So, I've been mapling for around a decade...yes you read that right, ten years of Maple bliss. As a result, I'm fairly confident with my in-game knowledge. With certain aspects of the game I feel very comfortable explaining and helping others and myself. HOWEVER, this is not one of them so I am calling for aid from the warrior experts! I don't know how many people saw the Ironmen challenge post (no trading or buying goods whatsoever, etc.), but I'm doing it with a page. As a result, for this side project, I want to go hybrid, even though I know this is not efficient, not the best damage output, etc. But since I'm hunting for all my weapons, I like the option to go with both. I know it's somewhat possible, but I need some help crafting a hybrid page/pally build! I'm happy to entertain all posts, builds, and advice because not only am I new to pages, but hybrid pages aren't exactly a thing (I'm assuming). Please keep the new source in mind as well if you help me out! Thanks Royals Community, one of the most incredible things I've noticed in my 2+ years here is the willingness to help. I'm looking forward to y'all's knowledge!
Use a sword. Most of them are fairly easy to get with many of them being extremely common from drops in maps you'll already be training at. Here are some tips that might prove useful: Cloud Foxes drop 2h 30% scrolls Lionheart can last for a long time due to its amazing speed. Japanese Maps are a somewhat common drop at Leprechauns and incredibility fast. Soul Rohens are commonly found in Forest Of Golem, a recommended training area for warriors. Wolf Spiders drop Blue Screamers. Stonetooth Swords are commonly found in NLC.
Thanks man! You always have the most helpful posts and I really respect that. Here's the thing, I'm fairly committed to going 1H BW and shield because any high level (melee) attacker I've EVER had has been 2H sword and I want to change up my play style since this is already an odd side project. But, I always want the option for sword (mainly for BF, etc.) and I'm mainly wondering if this is even a build possibility at this point. Thanks again!
It's very, very easy to max out both BW and sword masteries/boosters for second job but third job you have to make the choice. There is no possible hybrid build in third job without severely crippling yourself because the three charges (lightning, ice, fire) have separate skills for each weapon type. Unless you want to leave each charge half maxed, hybrid is out of the question. You might wonder if you could max one charge for BW and two charges for sword or some variation of that but I find that very difficult to imagine. Zakum has elemental weakness for fire and ice so you'd need both those maxed for whatever end game weapon you have and the mobs Zakum summons is immune to both fire and ice so you'd need lightning for the mobs. Also, lightning is the highest % damage (other than Holy which is in fourth job) when elementally neutral so you'd also need to max that for your end game weapon so basically you need all three charges. Even if you aren't planning to Zakum, BF is weak to fire, HH is weak to lightning, Pianus is weak to fire, Anego is weak to holy but holy charge is a fourth job skill (which also has separate skills for the two weapon types), and different mobs at different levels have different weaknesses (e.g. MP3 is weak to lightning). Those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head but I'm sure there are more. In second job feel free to do whatever you want but third job you're going to have to pick and as Plenty has said before, sword is the better option. I wrote a post on BW vs Sword before and here is what I said This may not be relevant post source but I also have no idea when that will be released.
When it eventually comes out, the new source will extend 1h Blast to have the same range as 2h Blast, so you don't have to worry about keeping a 2h weapon around for BF. ACB was not so lucky, so it's still pretty awful range-wise for 1h. I've been meaning to post this image somewhere for a while now. Spoiler: paladin ranges Hybrid would work, but you need to pick 4 of the 6 3rd job charges to max. I'd say either max all 3 for you preferred weapon type and 1 for your backup weapon type, or just ditch Ice Charge and Blizzard Charge entirely and max Fire and Lightning for both weapon types. It depends on whether you want to favor one weapon type over another. In 4th job, maxing both charges can actually be a bit tight. You may have to scrape some points off of other useful skills. Maxed Rush is nice, but I view it as the least critical, so you could start there. A lot of people leave it at 1 until 170+. Some thoughts: I personally really like Ice Charge (or maybe just the idea of it), but it's not very good for damage or elemental advantage. The only time I'm glad I have it is when I'm messing around or at Krexel's first eye. Lightning is nice for 3rd job mainly because it's the strongest...but it's only the strongest by 5%, and Holy easily outclasses it damage-wise in 4th job. I have the impression that relevant enemies are more often weak to Fire (like BF and RoR), but check out this list for a verdict. I think that until you get Holy Charge, Lightning Charge is good enough for Zakum. Only one arm is ice-weak, and one fire-weak. It's not much worse to use Lightning Charge (and eventually Holy Charge) and ACB. Spoiler: possible bw-focused hybrid build Code: 2nd job [121 SP] 20 bw mastery 20 bw booster 20 sword mastery 20 sword booster 30 power guard 11 threaten (improved in new source, may want to max) 3rd job [151 SP] 30 cb 30 bw blizzard charge 30 bw flame charge 30 bw thunder charge 30 sword ? charge 4th job [243 SP] 20 mw (may eventually be 30 w/Pink Bean) 30 blast 10 acb 20 bw divine charge 20 sword holy charge 30 stance 30 achilles 30 hh 30 guardian 21 rush 01 mm 01 hero's will (may be 5 or 10 w/new source)
Different but somewhat related questions I have. I know that final attack is highly NOT recommended for classes like bow/crossbow (reduced mobbing DPS) and pre-dk (not using FF at all in 3rd job and hybrid is the way to go). What about fighter/sader and page/WK? Is final attack useful or recommended during 3rd job? If FF is not useful or not making much of difference, I am think going hybrid (max axe mastery and lv 11 axe booster instead of lv 30 FF) and use axe during 2nd job and early 3rd job (since combo attack can be used for both axe and sword) until i start adding sword skills.
Final attack is an overall terrible skill. Especially for Heroes/Pallys because of the fact that you use slash blast until 4th job. It reduced the amount of dps you do while attacking multiple mobs. Basically just stay away from Final attack.
