Pie Monster spawn/drop rate

Hi all!

We would appreciate your feedback on whether or not we got the spawn rate and quest item drop rate of the Pie Monsters about right. Please let us know by voting in the poll and posting any additional thoughts/suggestions you have.

It might be helpful to know what job class and level you are and how long it took you to complete the quest - and any other information you feel is relevant.

Drop rate is fine, but the spawn can be a bit higher.

 

For me it's more the opposite.

I'd say the spawn is fine but the drop rate seems low, only 20% of the pies I've killed have dropped items for me

 

Drop rate is too low, took me about 4hrs upon completion.

 

It's been nearly 5 hours and I still haven't been able to complete the quest once on my level 85 Priest. I'm finding both the spawn and the drop rate too low, especially since the Pie Monsters are able to drop quest items you already have.

 

Training at a map, it randomly respawns every 20 minutes or so.

 

I often get 2 pie monsters in a row. Then I have to wait for 10minutes+. The spawn isnt that bad.

 

Oh wow, you're kidding me! Finally finished the quest 7 hours after I'd started... and got a piece of Pumpkin Pie T_T.

Is anyone else here who's posted so far doing the quest on a non-4th job character?

I think the spawn/drop rate is fine considering the quest is only repeatable every 6 hours. Gives you plenty of time to collect all the ingredients again....well I'm saying that but I've not yet finished the quest, still missing 2 ingredients but I've not really been farming, just killing pie monsters when I pass them.

 

@Succubus - just curious how long it took you to complete the quest and on which level/job class of character,as you're the one person so far who finds the spawn/drop rate far too high. Are there certain maps where the spawn is OP?

 

The spawn doesn't feel too bad but the drop rate is incredibly frustrating. They either drop nothing 90% of the time, or drop an item you already have, & since it's 1 per character may as well be nothing.
How the event currently is, I'm finding it very difficult to complete it once, let alone 10 times. A +1 all stat ring is not worth this time investment.

Edit: This is my experience on a 4th job character.
Edit2: Took around 2 hours to complete quest #1. Teamwork helps a lot. Find a friend who is also farming & share drops you already have.

 

I just finished my first run on this quest and it didn't take too long for me probably because of my job and choice of map. I would say it took about 2 hours top for me to find all 4 ingredients. I'm a bishop and I was just waiting for Mushmom to spawn. So I was just killing Iron Hogs to get a chance for those pies to spawn while I waited in that small map. Based off my experience, I say it's best to either go grind or find a compact map to hunt pies.

 

Killed over 900 Qualm Monk Trainee's, 4 pie mobs spawned and I got 1 drop.

 

I killed almost 20 Monster Pies and only got 5 Pumpkins 1 Pie Crust and 1 Flour.

It's too low in my opinion.

If after all this I get a pumpkin pie I'll shoot myself.

 

Last night I grinded for several hours on Road of Regrets 3, over the course of 2 hours I managed to get roughly 17 to 18 Pie Monsters to spawn.
Out of those 17 to 18 Pie Monsters, I got 1 drop.. I believe that is a tad too low as I don't want to spend 8 hours+ per quest per character, and that 10 times for a ring with 1 all stats.

That's just my experience / opinion on this.

 

My main concern is for lower lvl characters and people with 4th job mains who aren't very good at grinding. If people with 4th job ultimates are finding the spawn/drop rate to be far too low I pity newer players (and shads f4) whole heartedly.

 

Sorry about that. I read the poll wrong and voted the opposite. Anyways, it seems like only 4th job mages are able to farm somewhat effectively while other classes might have to resort to killing lower leveled mobs to find what they're looking for. If you keep mules in nearby maps, it sort of gets easier, but that's only because you're really trying to find them.

 

I've been farming at various locations for about 2 hours as a 15x NL (Henesys Hunting Ground 2 and Ghost ship 1/2) and I've seen about 8 pies and picked up 3 unique drops. Still haven't completed the quest once yet, and I've been trying to farm pies at the most compact, high spawn maps. Without a 4th job mage/bishop, I think it will take most people too much time to farm pie ingredients for the quest rewards.

In my opinion, the event is an amazing idea with lots of potential, but it should complement regular gameplay, not have people farm for hours trying to hunt pie pieces. Some classes such as NL's and most lower levels (under 4th job) just aren't meant for training and mobbing, which makes it extremely difficult to hunt pie pieces without leeching yourself with a mage. I just don't want to see this event deteriorate to people leeching their characters on bishops/mages and picking up the drops on the character being leeched.

I'm not sure if things can or will be changed with hotfixes, but here are some suggestions I have:
Increasing drop rate of items: will make the pie spawns so much more rewarding as you can be fairly certain those no-good pies will drop an ingredient.
Increasing spawn rate of pies: too much pie is never a good thing, but it will help with getting ingredients faster.
Have bosses/mini-bosses spawn pies or drop pie ingredients when dying: This will help low levels characters get the ring without a mage/bishop, as well as help heavy bossers such as NL's, BM's, Sairs and Warriors get their pie ingredients without farming heavily for ingredients.

Even if nothing is changed with this event, maybe these are some things to consider for similar future events? Hope this helps >.<
