Snow Blower Event: Reduce 10k Snow Cap to 5k! There have been many changes to the Snow Blower event: you're required 100 Nevermelting Snow to enter, notifying the server at 50% capacity. I'm wondering if it's possible to reduce the Nevermelting Snow cap from 10,000 to 5,000 to spawn the Snowman. Yesterday as you all know, the Snow Blower Event was going absurd! There was literally a snowman spawning EVERY 3 MINUTES! Everyone has used up their snow and now this event is at a standstill... not that I would like the event to occur every 3 minutes again (it will get boring after a while), but I would like the event to occur at a steady rate: every 1-3 hours? Why is the event at a standstill? - No one is going in and camping outside. Why is no one going in? - No one else is going in. Why is no one else going in? - The 100 Nevermelting Snow requirement What happens if you go in with the 100 Snow requirement? - No one else will go in and you would have to wait throughout the day because if you leave, that's a waste of 100 Snow on YOUR PART. Now, I have a feeling that this is least likely to happen, but I would like to see your opinions on it. I have a poll, vote if you want the snow cap to be at 10,000; 7,500; 5,000; or choose Other if you have another solution
Well, sorry for the people who wanted the snow cap reduced down to 5,000. I don't have a really good argument xD
In my opinion 10k is good. Also if it was 5k then that would mean Half the amount of people to attack the snowman which would take twice as long to kill
people who used up their snow will go farm for more or they will go buy it from people who will farm for more. it's that simple
What does the eventeven do? I haventbeen lucky enough and am new and wasted like 800 in thereand left lol, whats prizes? what do u do?
I think 10k is fine! Perhaps make sure that people who donate snow get some form of reward. What kind of reward you get should be measured after how much snow you donate.
I think, the solution is just an automatic announcement of snowblower % every 10 minutes. It's basically stand still until that 50% announcement, then the flood gates open. Makes me wonder if the same effect could be seen at 4k, 3k, etc...
i think the snowman is perfect now. it rewards people who contribute, provides no real advantage to multiclienting inside (unless you have unlimited snow and are online for every snowman), goes off a good number of times thanks to the 50% announcement, and you can have friend/guild-exclusive snowman parties. i see no downside to the way it currently is also the 100 people cap helps with lag
I sort of agree. I like the way it is now, but I don't necessarily believe that it's "perfect." I'm not really favoring the 100 Nevermelting Snow requirement even though that keeps most alts out, it makes people not want to enter. This would be a neat idea but remember, the Snowblower Event doesn't only happen in channel 1, it happens in all other channels as well.
it makes people who do not want to contribute not enter. and those people shouldn't make it in. why should they be able to get a free present and leech from the people who actually contributed? not only that, but having so many people in there leeching would increase lag for the ones who have graphical issues and have donated
100% agree, its' just that until it reaches 50% everyone inside is at the mercy of everyone else outside to enter. If the announcement was every 10 minutes regardless of snow %, there would be a more fluid flow of people entering instead of this rush at 50% after waiting half an hour. Event is damn near perfect at this point though. So make it only for channel 1. The other channels can be used for, as a gm said in another thread, more for private/guild/friend runs where you probably wouldn't want the % announced anyways.
If it was announced every 10 minutes, you would still have the same issue you're talking about where no one goes in until it reaches 50% except that people would have a better idea as to when the snowman is about to spawn and I would even argue the situation would be made worse with people waiting until it is closer to spawning until they enter the map. I think after all the tweaks that have been made, we finally pinned down a formula that is working quite well. Kudos to Matt especially for his hard work and making this all happen.
