Irc

Ok, so i'm here to say that we need an irc. The server is down so often and we have no way to communicate with the players or gms or anything while the server is down. I mean Mibbit or whatever is just fine but I mean it's very annoying to see the server down and not be able to talk to anyone about why it's down or what's the ETA on it or whatever. I mean really this is a must have.

I can set this up if you want. I'm not trying to suck the gm's or admins off I just want to have communication with people when/if the server is down due to ddos or if it crashes or any sorts of stuff.

Actually we do need an irc, not everyone has facebook and anyone can join an irc and immediately start talking. Plus the facebook page doesnt give constant updates, I just checked it and the last update was jan 3.

 

IRC is quite intimidating and old school. Trust me, I'm not against IRC as I am an IRCop on a network But when we have players having difficulty logging in to the game, the questions will soar if we introduce IRC into the mix.

You're saying the staff at MapleRoyals has no time to answer questions?
I have been with this server for 1 month, and I have noticed how the server disconnects very frequently and there is not a single word of information given to us users who are the ones that make this server possible to be up and running. I think there should be some way of getting information to the users, as you said having an IRC would have questions soaring in. Whats your job for this server then, who can answer the questions...

Also the staff aren't on call 24/7, they have school, jobs, life like the rest of us. If the server crashes while they're at work it wouldn't make a difference if there was an IRC.

If you can't access the game and the forums are down it's safe to assume that there's an unforeseen event and the staff are working their hardest to get servers back up. If the forums are still up they will give us periodic updates.

 

Chicken Stix, I understand the fact that staff have real lives too, that is why servers tend to higher staff with different time zones, so that can eliminate the fact of no GM's being online or moderators on the forums. There is so many things this server can do to improve there overall experience, but yet there is nothing done to improve anything. Like making a chat room like xsat, or the several other 100 chat room websites, takes 10 minutes and it's free. I just hope this server can see the potential traffic that is starting to build up here, and that things need to improve in order for the number to keep increasing, I have noticed a great amount of people quitting the past week from no updates nor the server being up.

Although I agree with what you're saying but updates on a v62 server idk what you're getting at. New hair/faces so good wow, why not fix bugs before they embark on that adventure? But yeah there are 11 gm's or staff members for a reason, someone can usually always be online in the irc. Of course lots of people have lives just because you play maple doesnt mean you don't have one. Imo we need the irc or some sort of chat I know the forums have one but the forums are kinda laggy alot of the times.

(Or idk if you mean by updates fixing bugs but what's said is said)

 

There are GMs from Australia to America. There's no problem with having GMs in different time zones. And when they are on they have other people to help, not just you. Be patient and if a GM is on they'll help you as soon as they can.

As far as bug fixes and updates, how easy do you think that is? Adding NX is relatively easy compared to finding and fixing bugs. With bugs you have to first find the source of the problem in the code, so just because you know a bug exists it doesn't mean you know the cause of the bug or how to fix it. Also why would we even need updates on bug fixes? When they fix a bug they let us know, otherwise I'm sure they're working on it. There's a long list of bugs and certain ones take priority over others.

As far as recent server issues, that has everything to do with an immature child on a personal vendetta. They're working on it and will let us know when they make progress.

So don't assume that nothing's being done, they're working harder than most people seem to know or care. Most people would have given up on the server in Matt's position. Just be thankful he decides to spend so much time and money to keep it alive for us.

 

Having an IRC where you can actively talk to someone if need be isn't just about helping him. This would benefit anyone who is having trouble and would also be a place people could go and talk to other players while the server is down for whatever reason. Especially seeing as when the server is down or being attacked you can't access the forums and there is no way to communicate with anyone on this server, be it GM's or players.

 

This is what forums are for.

Usually the forums are up, and if not, as has been stated before, it's safe to assume it's an unforeseen issue that the staff is working on fixing. You can always check the facebook, which you don't need an account to view. And I know many people talk via skype, so if you want to interact with other players you have that medium.

As far as asking the staff directly, would you rather them answer endless questions or work on fixing the issues? I think their time would be better spent working on fixing server problems.

 

Alot of people don't have the gm's or these people on skype, idk about nword but I don't go around asking gm's or admins or just people for their skype, i'm not gonna suck their d's just to be in the know. Also the facebook is not active.

 

They don't use it much, but if it's a serious emergency they update it. Which has only happened a few times since I've joined Royals.

 

Exactly, an IRC is a way that if the server is down and it's not for an update for anything that people can contact each other on and stuff while the server is down. I myself don't give out my Skype info to people online, but would still like to the players of MapleRoyals when the server isn't accessible. I'm not sure why an IRC is being met with such resistance.
