After Extalia was shut down, Is Royals In danger?

I just found out that Nexon has shut down Extalia, I was shocked to hear this as Nexon hadn't taken action against private servers for years. First off I realize that Extalia and Royals are very different in many way( version popularity etc). That being said my question is Royals in danger of being shut down in a similar manner? I would honestly be quite sad if they broke apart this great community that I hold dear.

 

I doubt it. But never be completely off guard, because we never know.

 

probably not extalia was a lot more advanced with their updates and everything that they had to offer, royals doesn't leech off their business the same way extalia did, but at the same time they're a large unpredictable corporation so anything can happen

If it continues to grow then it will be killed for sure. Nexon will only let any of these things get so big before wacking em.

The numbers on our server seem to be growing a bit.

If they want to prolong its life they could potentially just close down registrations once they hit a certain number of active users, only re-opening them when that number dwindles. Even with that its not a guarantee they wont get spanked.

It's also possible royals just never hits that number where it is worth it for Nexon to pwn them.

Just enjoy it while you have it homie.

 

I think Royals should be fine.
For Extalia, from what i last remember...they have a daily active user of 3k+, not to mention their constant update and GMS-likeness, they're literally like an official GMS that is only a few versions behind.

Unless Royals hit such a benchmark and level of development set by Extalia, i think we should be fine.

 

U sure nexon closed that ? Cause there was notice on their forums from developer about it before shut down.

 

There was. They just can't disclose it, which I supposed was due to legal reasons imposed by Nexon.
But they did mention the cause was Nexon.

 

It will NEVER be worth it for Nexon to go after us. There isn't a single player in Royals who prefers GMS to pre-BB content, and few, if any, would return to GMS if Royals was shut down.

Royals represents an entirely different player base. Nexon gains nothing from pursuing us, unlike with Extalia.

Then again, this is the same company that ruined Maplestory in the first place, so I cannot confidently say "Nexon isn't that stupid".

 

They said it was from nexon. But no proof was ever given. Prior to that notice they said it was hardware issues or something like that.
It was barely an official notice too. Simply "We're closing down. Reason: NEXON"
For all we know it could be a lie. We really won't have any clue, we're not the ones who read the email or who were behind their servers. (We as in royals players, or anyone not extalia admins)

 

All of the players from Extalia will be coming here and im sure this is going to have a similar fate. Im probably going to GMS

 

They wouldn't return to gms since other private servers would take its place. Shutting down Royals wouldn't be enough, But if they manage to shut down all the popular private servers like the have Extalia it would be a very different situation.
If there is no quality private server experience out there people have 3 options.
-settle for a shit private server experience
- stop playing ms
-play nexon's ms
I think in this scenario alot of people would settle for nexon's gms. Nexon does have something to gain.

If nexon do end up shutting us down, I will never forgive anyone who goes back to nexon's server.

 

Majority plays Extalia cos it mimicks actual server but free to play instead, assuming you dont donate.

To be honest, the reason "NEXON" might be a lot of things. Being contacted by NEXON, being afraid of them suing Hidden, etc etc. A lot of things can hide behind the reason 'NEXON'.

 

Nexon will close any high-level server if they will have the chance. As long the admins will keep low profile, MapleRoyals will be here with no problem at all.

Actually extalia was closing by nexon just becouse get updates and popularity... Vas a copy of gms and probably nexox demand them just becouse popularity... Aniways i'm think royals its safe.. And if they dont well go outside and get a job :c
