If Nexon did shutdown Extalia I can't blame em, Extalia was ahead of the official MapleStory Europe server in content..
^and was certainly more lively than quite a few Nexon servers aside reboot, but even Royals accomplishes that when it peaks. The difference between Extalia/Official and Royals is pretty drastic however. Most people are here in the first place because they flat out do not like the path gMS went down, pretty much becoming a different game with MapleStory aesthetics. Nexon could theoretically shut down anything using their content, but they gain very little benefit from targetting Royals as others have mentioned. Especially in an era where Esports games are the trend and the MMO market is condensed into three titles. A lot of people would go to the many other options available if Royals was forced down. Nexon is probably more concerned about keeping whats left of the playerbase from direct competitors than a server that emulates gameplay from 8 years ago.
After the closure of ExtaliaMS, which claims they've been shut down and filed a lawsuit against by nexon. What would the odds be for royals to get shut down aswell? Discuss Just leaving this here: https://maple-news.com/2012/04/24/nexon-awarded-3-6-million-in-private-server-lawsuit/
I've merged your thread with this one since it's practically the same. I would be interested to know where you read that ExtaliaMS claimed they had a lawsuit filed. As far as I knew they were claiming to have received a DMCA removal request - which is a lot different than a lawsuit.
