Hi! Me bothering you guys about my projects again!
Some of you probably already know I'm writing 2 big projects on gaming nostalgia and soooo I'd really like (if you'd let me) to interview some of you guys over Skype!

The interview will be semi-structured so I will have some questions but I really just want to hear you talk about your Maple experiences and how that comes into your Royals experience, it's not scary I promise!
The whole thing will be recorded because I will need to transcribe and analyse all the information you have given me but it will only be used by me and me alone!

I will need to do about 4 interviews and ideally I'd have people of different ages and location so if you can just let me know (1) if you'd be cool with this and (2) how old you are and (3) where you are from that'll be super mega awesome! If you don't want to share that information here you're welcome to privately message me! Massively huge thank you if you're willing to do it!

WHILST I'M AT IT, what are your favourite (2-3) threads on the forums? I also need to pick two of those to analyse and I'm curious!

Thank you thank you thank you I love you guys have the best day ever <3

    1. The latest accomplishments thread... because it's always so interesting to see what different people are proud of. I love that there's posts that vary all the way across the spectrum, like finishing zjq for the first time, hitting 200 (maybe for the nth time coughTommycough), perfecting weapons, getting your first zhelm, etc. I love congratulating people and liking people's posts because that's fun ^-^ I think that thread is where our community really shines the most because you see people all congregating together to celebrate the big and small things.
    2. The real you thread... because even though i've never posted in it, it's nice to remember that there's real people behind the screen. i think a lot of the problems we tend to have in the community are when people forget to just treat each other like human beings. Also everyone on this server is beautiful.
    3. The get it off your chest thread... because maybe it's because i'm nosey or i just whatever, but it's nice reading through it and kind of vibing with everyone. I think we all go through our own problems, and it's nice not to feel so alone, either because you have somewhere to post/rant about it, or because you see that other people are having issues too. Am I nosey? I probably am.
(this one is my unofficial fourth: The emergency happiness thread (yes, indeed, this may be a shameless plug)... because who doesn't like cute gifs and videos? And like it says in the first post, there's been a lot of anger, negativity, distrust, and frustration in the world, and it's my little escape from all of that. And I'm glad some people have found solace there. HERE IS A LINK: http://royals.ms/forum/threads/emergency-happiness-kit.43145/)

    1) Always cool with talking to Alyo <3

    2) I'm 24 hehe

    3) I'm from west coast USA ^____^

A few of my favorite threads would be the Appreciation thread. A lot of the forums tends to be negative due to people needing help and a lot of it tends to be, well, pretty depressing. I feel like it also doesn't accurately represent the community so I love the appreciation threads that bring light to people who are doing good things!

Another one would be the Royals meetups because it really encompasses what Royals is all about (for me anyway). The community and the bonds I share with my friends is what keeps me here and I feel like that thread really helps bring the internet into real life.

Finally, I love the Accomplishment thread because who doesn't love a place to lowkey (or flat out) brag? And I love the fact that we can all congratulate each other and acknowledge each other's accomplishments. Plus, I need a place to lowkey brag when I go ham with the 30's kthx.

Runner Up: Character Issues Section/Help & Advice Forums - Even for something as simple for an unstuck, I feel really useful and like I'm able to help the community which was the whole point when I applied! And while it may be frustrating at times, ultimately it's a very rewarding feeling to be able to do something back for this community that has helped me so much.

As for my favourite 3 threads on the forums, I think @Penny has essentially stolen the words from my mouth (and potentially articulated it much better than I would have). I would however like to replace her 3rd choice (not that it was bad!) with this thread:

    MapleStory friends in real life

I essentially see this as a culmination of what mmorpgs are about. The people you meet, the friendships that sprout, the lifelong companions that embed themselves in your lives. Reading about the adventures players take together outside their screens, the relationships (platonic or otherwise) that form, and finally myself participating in these, is inexplicably an absolute ray of sunshine.

Same as Jeen, saving a spot until I can edit in all the info (in about 3 hours).

I'd be glad to help out!

    Favourite Threads
    1) The entire guide subforum (so either the compilation or the directory works as a good single-thread-stand-in).

Maplestory is a game where *not* sharing information is incredibly advantageous - you can get a leg up on everyone else in money, experience, etc. simply by holding all of your experience close to your chest. In spite of that, we have a thriving guide section, and it's not only "middle class" players who try to help, some of the most well-off players make guides (Plenty is an obvious example of someone who *owns* quite a bit and yet he's the one making the majority of the guides). It's really fascinating to me, to see this as a microcosm of the real world community - people really do want to help each other. (I've thought about this a lot and could talk more about it but for now I'll leave it at that).

    2) Probably the get it off your chest thread.

For a lot of people games are supposed to be cathartic and something that Royals (as an MMO) offers that other games don't is a community that's, on the whole, very supportive. Obviously this thread doesn't allow for delving into the topics but the fact that it even exists indicates that people feel comfortable expressing what they can within earshot of everyone else here, and that's worth a lot. Most people will have multiple support structures, even if it's just listening, and it's great that we can provide that too.

    3) Spooky's "Recordings" in Random Creativity.

I'm mostly just a sucker for anything music related, but it's neat that this ties together music with the MapleRoyals community (which I talked about above, albeit a very different facet of it), and it does so in a unique/fittingly creative way.

    fav threads
    • feedback section in general - it's fun seeing what people want in the game to make it the way they would want it, even if sometimes they're making suggestions that haven't been fully thought through and I end up disagreeing with them. Everyone has a different opinion on how they like to play video games, the feedback section is the way I see it the most.
    • latest accomplishments - while I rarely post my accomplishments in this thread, sometimes I do because I feel like I've done something interesting, unique or rarely done, and people might enjoy seeing it. That's the reason I view the thread too, I like seeing what people are up to for mostly the same reason as above; a ppl2passer will be posting his or her equips/levels, a quester might post their completion of a long questline, someone else might post this that or the other thing.
    • latest failures - I enjoy watching people suffer I don't think any other thread really matches up to those two above in my eyes. I suppose Guild screenshot threads would be up here too, since it's the same as accomplishments just with a smaller subset of players who are posting things they had fun doing with their friends - rather than learning what a player enjoys, you get to learn what a guild is like. I'm not a big part of any guild anymore, really, but it's how I used to choose which guilds I wanted to join from which I didn't.

As for threads probably The Real You thread because it helps you realize that we're all people and not just pixels and so many different types of people play this game. Second thread would probably be Get It Off Your Chest because we all have things we need a little relief from. (Ended in a preposition, oh well.)

    • Latest accomplishments. It's a great way to share your achievements, and get that good feeling of something that you have accomplished. In a personal point of view it proves me that earning certain items which you would feel to be impossible are most certainly obtainable. Being a little bit ostentatious can be good sometimes to higher your ego.
    • MapleRoyals Meme. In this section a lot of creative content is created. It's normally stereotypes or funny pictures about the game that only us MapleRoyals players can relate to. Therefore I enjoy this thread so much.
    • The entire video section (based on MapleRoyals). I love (again) to see creative content created specifically for this game. Seeing it in a video, how other experience this game is really great.

This is gonna be difficult since I'm a forum addict who's all over the place all the time.

    1. Latest Accomplishment Thread
I enjoy seeing all the wonderful things that Royallers accomplish daily, especially those godly chaosed equips people make! I enjoy the wonderful feedback I gain sometimes when I post there too!

    2. Support forum
I like analysing the different problems that people may be facing in royals, whether they are reporting, appealing bans, needing character issue support, etc. I find that looking over things like this helps me figure out how I should go about solving my own issues in game. I even help people sometimes on threads like character issues if I know a solution to their problem.

    3. The Real You!
This thread is very enjoyable for me since I get to see all of you lovely Royallers' faces! It feels like this nostalgic community is even more close-knit than ever with that thread. I have yet to post myself on it (will soon hopefully). I like knowing that the friends I know are who they claim to be when they post on this thread, and not some next person hiding behind a different persona.

(TBH I like and follow like the majority of the popular threads on royals, so I can't really decide 100% on my favorites)

    1. Latest Accomplishment Thread
I love to watch people when they are proud of what they do. Its just super fun to see what's possible on the server and then setting a goal to do the same (or better) after seeing what others are able to accomplish.
    2. Latest Failure Thread
From the ups to the downs, that is what makes life worth living in my opinion. Its fun to see what people have tried and failed at. It just makes it that much more fun to see them post on the accomplishment thread after they have done what they have set out to do.
    3. Emergency Happiness Kit @Penny
Its self explanatory! Who wouldn't LOVE a page filled with cute gifs/awesome videos?
