I once wrote a paper about how gender stereotypes are bad for men as well as women and I used Mulan to show that men are expected to fall into certain roles and tropes. Disclosure: Mulan is probably my favorite Disney movie! Well, Disney Princess movie at least. (Also I totally had Poor Unfortunate Souls stuck in my head yesterday.)
MULAN IS LOVE, MULAN IS LIFE. I could never grow tired of watching Mulan. On a side note, UP is probably my favorite Disney movie. I shed many (manly) tears during that film And I still tear up every time.
Last disney movie i watched is Lion King i believe. As for which one is my favorite im not quite sure (so many good ones ), but i really like the art style of Mulan I really like disney music, i just love the orchestral / melodic aspects of the music Spoiler: Some of my favourite songs *u* Although im not a big fan of movies in general i still enjoy watching disney movies :3
Mother Knows Best is sooooo gooooooood and just Tangled in general is (It needed a shoutout) And so I am leaving these here. Ah man Mandy Moore is awesome :3 Spoiler These posts are taking a while to make since I have to listen to each song from beginning to end before I can link the next lel <3
Frozen is really just a feature length music video for "Let It Go" Also, Zootopia anyone? It was really entertaining.
Better in almost every way. And if your argument for Frozen is that Idina Menzel is in it, then you're mistaken She auditioned for Tangled and was rejected ^o^
I notice some of these were not mention so.... Spoiler This song always nearly makes me tear up. Also I know I'm cheating here cuz it's not really Disney but shameless plug moment it's honestly pretty good. Zootopia exceeded my expectations, and it's definitely one of the better Disney movies as of late. Added bonus of silly Disney humor Spoiler https://www.pinterest.com/pin/441634307180327425/
+1 Imo frozen is kinda wierd towards the end when everything suddenly becomes super dark with chains and prison cells and anna freezing to death and all... I really like the music tho =)
I'm ashamed Pocahontas hasn't been mentioned before this! If you haven't seen it in the last 7 years or so I STRONGLY SUGGEST WATCHING IT. For me it's the one I could never appreciate much as a child but watching it as a somewhat grown human - it blew my mind! And lets pretend Pocahontas 2 didn't happen. heh. Tarzan is also amazing! It was never one I binge watched as a child so it's a very recent love for me but it's great! Might watch it again tonight Annnnd Anastasia is fabulous - Disney or not- it sits well in this thread, I SO approve! Oh and Frozen.. it's fun but it's no Tangled. Haven't seen zootopia yet but hyped! <3
Haha, I shared the exact same experience as you upon re-watching Pocahontas. Oh god Pocahontas 2 is basically like Voldemort. (the movie that shall not be named) Yes! Anastasia is truly an underrated animated princess film. I find it such a shame that it's really overshadowed a lot by the other Disney princess film when it's just as good. Ah Tangled! I've got to watch that again. Absolutely loved the chemistry between Flynn and Maximus haha. And I'm sure most people have told you already but yes you should go and watch Zootopia. The two main characters are literally friendship goals. <3 Another one of those Disney gender-bender artworks I found upon scavenging from my old collection of Disney gold. Spoiler http://uproxx.com/webculture/disney-princesses-as-princes/
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh so this song is so so so so underrated! It's from The Little Mermaid 2, which I guess I understand why people forget about lol, BUT THIS SONG IS SO SO SO GOOD AND ALSKDKLAEJRLKJF ENJOY omg I love it so much :3 She has the sweetest voice! EDIT: me when I have kids Spoiler
Just saw Zootopia the other day and it was suuuuuper good! It probably isn't one of my top 10 but still worth a watch or 5.
I remember watching this and HATING Ariel's voice - I figured they got another actress (I was little and the internet was not really a thing to check on!) I've finally googled it and it's the same voice actress - I guess 11 years makes a difference hahaha.
So I just re-watched Maleficent (and before this literally 4-5 days ago too) and I forgot how much I loved this! If you haven't seen it I strongly encourage you to! It's a darker twist on the Sleeping Beauty story containing love and heartbreak and betrayal and magic and it's amazing - highly underrated imo! So for the soundtrack Lana Del Rey created this magnificent version of Once Upon a Dream which I think beautifully mimics the darkness that the film has on this originally happy-y story. Probably top 5 Disney songs now. I really really really really love it.
