Sorry if there is a fix for my issue, but I could not find it in the troubleshooting guide So after reading the troubleshooting guide, I disabled firewall, reinstalled the game, and I got the game to work. But after playing for a while (only lvl 10) the game suddenly crashed, and when I tried to run it again, it said the parameters were incorrect. So I went back to the troubleshooting guide (really helpful) and fixed this issue. About 5 minutes into playing, it crashed again, but there was no error message or indication that something went wrong. Tried to run the game again, said parameters incorrect again. But I had already changed it to windows 98/me and disabled DPI scaling, so I changed it back to no scaling and windows 8 compatibility (it wouldn't run on no compatibility) and it worked. Logged in, selected character and channel, and what do you know, 30 seconds into the game and it crashes again. So I try to run it again, parameter incorrect. Change back to windows 98/me compatibility, disable DPI scaling, run it as administrator. It works, log in, get on, 30 seconds later crashes again. I have repeated this over 10 times now, and it would be really helpful if someone could help me locate the issue. It is not my connection, I have checked that already, and tried to run the game on a different character, also crashes a little into the game. Tried reinstalling, problem still there. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!
You could try to set it to windows xp sp3 compatibility and see if that works. Worse case you'll have to use vmware to play it.
now i'm just changing it back and forth between windows 98/me and xp sp3, crashes like every 3 min or so. Any other suggestions?
Then test it with windows 7 compatibility and run it as admin just in case and if that doesn't work then you'll have to use vmware player for this.
Changing compatibility won't help you with the crash problem, all it does is fix the parameter incorrect error. Do you have any antivirus programs enabled? Can you try with a different computer/network?
Well after each crash I have to go and change the parameters again to something different, even if it's on the "correct" parameters (windows 98/me or xp sp3). Usually takes 2 or 3 tries to get the game running again. Different compatibilities and setting each time. Have already disabled antivirus, that's how I got it to work in the first place. Tried with different network, don't have another computer to test it on. Don't think it's any of these problems, only happened after I played for a little. Probably my nvidia graphics card, I'll try vmware and see how it goes. Read Tim's guide, he has nvidia too, there may be other graphical glitches in the game, not just horntail (other people have it too).
I just manually right clicked and ran as administrator and it worked fine. Even if in its settings it already says to run as administrator on its own.
