Hello! I've noticed that many people on maple are very brusque and quite rude when trading. 9/10 times, this is how trade conversations go: person 1: offer person 2: x mesos person 1: lol trade canceled by person 1 I understand many players are very young and do not yet understand how to negotiate prices, so I thought I would make a thread and offer a more practical method of trading. Bartering. Haggling. Bargaining. Whatever you'd like to call it. What if instead of the above conversation, trade conversations went a little more like: person 1: offer? person 2: 10 mesos person 1: hm. what about 20 mesos person 2: 15? person 1: mk sounds good You don't walk into a car dealership and leave because you don't like the asking price. You offer, then counter. If you don't like the counter-offer, you can negotiate until you find a price you both agree on, or politely end the trade instead of laughing at the first offer and canceling. Because so many potential trades were prematurely ended, I started telling people to offer, counter, then negotiate as soon as the trade starts. It's resulted in much more profitable and beneficial trade results. I thought I would share this with you all as it has helped me and many of the people I have traded with. Cheers! Happy mapling
Im all for negotiations, thats how I do my business, and most people co-operate. Perhaps as the buyer/seller, you should come across a little more easy going :'] But still agree that some people should start negotiating instead of a overkill set price. It'll only take you longer to sell. Time's money, remember dat!
Still having a far better experience with trading, negotiations & general moneymaking on Mapleroyals than any other game tbf Edit; Just kinda wished people would care a little more about selling their rubbish. Most seem or so distracted in FM1 that they cba to sell. Would definetly want to see it more populated... FM Hoez go to ch2 ; (
Well, how about those that already have their prices below market value & ppl still haggle? At that point, it gets pretty annoying when people haggle.
Some people take this game too seriously...haha they put up an item for days to get that extra 20m rather than sell it and earn more money from training and doing other stuffs
When someone offers 500 dollars on a Bugatti Veyron, I'm not surprised people laugh and walk away. That's what I did when someone offered 300mil on my 123 att 3 slots bow even tho he was very aware of the value.
yeah true, but it also takes up shop space which you can put up other stuffs to sell and make more money in the long run. i have been keep selling a lot of items about 10% cheaper than FM price. i earned more in return. I think when people are free they should learn a little about logistics and understand the importance of the movement of goods. For instance, goods loose its value over time for most of the cases. If you are able to get it out fast you will have more space for other goods to place on ur shelf. *srry i am studying logistics in school that's why i have to think about time vs money and please don't take it too personally
I don't merch cause I am too lazy for that, but there are some flaws in how you see it, the biggest one is that items lose value, the market here is very stable and there are no upgrades coming for items like you would see in real life, this is a question purely on supply vs demand. How can you earn more money by selling it cheaper? Making a faster profit doesn't mean you make more money, where do you get 16 items to sell every few days, and even more if you use mules? I don't find items to sell that often so for me that strategy would make me lose profit.
To all the picklehead maplers : Don’t say offer if you’re going to just close the trade when you get a value you don’t like. At least PROVIDE a rebuttal so we can come to a compromise. It’s called COMMON COURTESY pickleheads . ******************************************Edited*************************************** ^^^^Reposted with "s and pickle" with hope of not getting this one deleted too. lmao^^^^^^ My thread was deleted with reason: If you make a thread show some respect this is your only warning. seriously? WHO exactly was I showering disrespect to? There was nothing against a specific race or homophobic background(or anything in the GTC for that matter). Also, this IS the GENERAL DISCUSSION of the forums. Sure there was some offensive language, but that's obviously not against the GTC. ****************************************************************************************
I've never understood why people do that. They obviously have a price that they won't sell their item under, so why not just make it clear?
You shouldn't Get warning using offensive Language like "fuck" to highlight sometimes ur emotions is a good think . I dont Get why ppl do that im always on rage when they are doing this. They're just stupid... No respect to this kind of behaviour !
It's their item and they can sell it however they want. Maybe they dont know how much it's worth and are just gauging interest. Either way, I find you guys who are complaining about people who have the right to sell items however they want as long as it is within the T&C, much more rude. The only time I find sellers rude is if they cancel a trade even after someone offers a/w (because someone offers higher than a/w) because a/w means auto win so it is kind of like a breach of contract.
I'm not talking about bidding, I'm talking about trading in general(e.g. selling a simple 30% gfa in fm) and common courtesy. If you're going to say "offer" you better expect just that, an offer. As @CrimsonJohnny said, people who just instantly close trades after asking for an offer obviously have a MINIMUM PRICE they wont sell under. So if you have a value in mind, OFFER it. If maplers are going to say "offer" they should expect any value and if they disagree, they should at least provide an offer themselves that they want. What if the person providing an offer doesn't even know the price and is a new player? You're just going to be a dick and close the trade? People who do this have an egotistical attitude. It doesn't take much effort to not be a dick.
Merging similar threads; 'Rant: Picklehead Royalers' with 'The Art of Haggling'. I must say though, the original 'The Art of Haggling' thread (posts 1-9) was much more well explained than 'Rant: Picklehead Royalers' (posts 10-15), and informs players in a less condescending manner.
Thanks for the merge. I like @defcon 's post as well. Nonetheless, I think the point was made. It shouldn't really take much explaining to be honest. Also, I wasn't pointing it out to a specific categorized group of people, so really no one should take it personally. Unless, of course, they know they're one of those people or just too sensitive to "negative" content.
You don't have to take the game too seriously to want to maximize your profit imo. I wouldn't agree with andreas when he's saying that the market is very stable. I think that a lot of prices are frequently fluctuating due to supply or demand is sinking or rising. I know a bunch of people who don't really need steady income because they already have more than enough mesos for their daily expenses and the next upgrade will cost them 10-30b or even more. So if you don't need the 50m right now then I don't see a reason as to why you wouldn't wait and get 70m from the same item later. I hihgly doubt people who are asking for offers want everyone to trade you and give you shit offers, I can see that getting frustrating for the seller. If you're a new player and don't know the price, don't just trade and give a shit offer tell the person who is selling you don't know the price and maybe he won't cancel the trade. You have to know that everyone who is asking for offers don't have a price in mind or are even willing to sell their item, some people are just asking for offers to get a general idea of the value for the item. They might also be trying to get the most amount of mesos possible out of their item and therefore are going to be hesitant about giving you a price since they don't know if you or someone else would pay more.
And if the new person doesn't know then he/she is open to getting taken advantaged of? And if you don't know the price, you do P/Cs. Seriously, it's funny how hard everyone is making it to be lol. Does it really take much effort to have the decency to say "Nthx, I'm looking for more around the (insert value desired here) range." instead of instantly closing the trade without even giving it a chance?
If the person don't know the price then he can try to negotiate the price after seller tells him how much it is, if the seller don't want to negotiate then the new player would either have to find another item or pay what seller asks for. just because you start with a low offer doesn't mean you will not be taken advantage of either, also one could argue that doing so you're trying to rip off the seller. When you give bullshit offers you should expect the seller to just cancel trade you're just wasting his time. Don't expect anyone to be decent to you if you're not even being fair towards them. I don't think that it is very rude for someone to cancel trade without saying "no, thanks im..." this has happened to me several times and after I just negotiate in all chat or whisper (if the seller or buyer is willing to negotiate). It does happen though that people are actually rude. For example I smega "S>item" someone replies with a bullshit offer I tell them "nty" then they ask "how much?" I tell them my price they proceed to make rude/ban able comments (not as in "haha" or "lol")
