Hello, I just tried to create a new character and immediately after killing a green snail a cake mob touched me for all my health. I spawned in lith harbor as a lvl 2 and had to somehow maneuver my way back to do quests, all while avoiding many cake mobs on every channel and map. This was very discouraging and not fun. I feel like this needs to be fixed because it can really deter new players and everyone else. Thank you
Yes i agree... trying to make a new character is and getting through maple island during this event is an achievement all by itself due to the cakes 1shotting all new players.
I assume you typoed this for Southperry, else this should be in Report Bug section. Ask for protection from islanders haha
I believe if you die and relog, you'll end up in the same map instead of having to walk all the way back. But I made a new character recently and not only did I have a bit of trouble with them on maple island but off as well. If the cakes take the hp of whatever monsters are in the map couldn't they also take the other stats so they do the same damage as well? Whether that be for this event or the other events with the same concept I'm sure it will help a lot of new characters.
Not to mention you cant even hit them due to like a minimum amount of avoid they have or however that works...
The Anniversary Cake monsters will spawn on the following maps after the server check tonight: 'In a Small Forest', 'Dangerous Forest', 'Mushroom Garden', 'Snail Garden', 'Hunting Ground Middle of the Forest I', 'Hunting Ground Middle of the Forest II' and 'Tomato Field'. Thanks for the feedback.
Instead of removing the cakes, you could simply change the rates of the cake...don't see the problem in that..
But the islanders were already complaining about the droprate of items, so that would only cause more complaints about the spawn rate of the Anniversary Cake monsters.
Actually we don't complain anymore, we simply dealt with what you said and gave us. In addition: Taken from: https://royals.ms/forum/threads/event-pigs-on-maple-island-killing-newbies.49124/ Reply by Katsuruka: I'll explain as simply as I can how the event pigs work. They don't have their own stats this year. They spawn after a certain amount of monsters have been killed on any given map, and they take on the stats of the monster that died. For example, if a Versal Pig spawns on the map just outside Southperry, it will take on the stats of a Stump, a Red Snail or an Orange Mushroom, depending on what was killed just before the pig spawned. The only attributes it won't take on are elemental attributes. However, if a Versal Pig spawned at Wolf Spiders, it would take on the stats of a Wolf Spider. This, at least, is how they theoretically work, and in practice, this is how I've seen them work in a variety of different maps and mobs. If they're working correctly, then they should be no more likely to kill a beginner than any other mob on Maple Island. If they've spawned from Orange Mushrooms, then that might explain why they're killing newbies. My question, why couldn't this be done instead?
What Kat said is not entirely correct, however the anniversary cakes are indeed using the same method. The only stats that the mob takes from the potential mob that should have spawned are it's HP, MP and EXP. Everything else is client sided, and because of the Anniversary Cakes being an already existing mob in the wz files and the fact we did not initially have plans to put them on Maple Island, we did not change their attack damage and avoid. When we added the Versal Pigs which were a completely custom mob, I believe we purposely set their attack and avoid to be quite low.
What are the pro&cons of lowering their attack damange and avoid? Why can't then simply all the mobs on the Island be lowered if it's client sided and it could be done, since they are all the same in their damage and avoid , according to your words?
If I understand it correctly, changing the attack and avoid values of the monsters would require a file update, which is not something we will do at this time.
A wz update like Dimitri said. Can I ask you a question instead? What exactly is the problem with the change that we are implementing in the next server check anyway? As far as I'm aware the maps that they will still spawn on contain all the main maps that islanders train on.
I made a warrior recently and I think for future monsters like this, starting players have to be considered. I dont see them as being just a problem on maple island but for first few maps of towns as well. Although they dont necessarily auto kill you like on maple island, they have a pretty good impact on pot consumption at low levels.
Which is why we are removing them from starting maps on Maple Island. This is the ideal compromise; the mobs remain on Maple Island for the Islanders to continue being able to participate in the event whilst removing the mobs from the path new players take so they are not frustrated when starting out.
I think of them as an issue off Maple Island though. The dmg kind of disrupts the balance in these type of maps. Spoiler: Stump Spoiler: Cake Especially when you miss on them and they start following you, they are much harder to avoid considering the duration you spend on a map like this vs at a map on maple island. Also when cc gives you a much higher rate to dc why even consider making a new char during events like these?
That sounds like something for a new feedback thread. And I feel that it's much less of an issue compared to the disruption caused to new players who may not have even played the server before, who would be dying immediately after creating a character.
I died and I was pissed. Even ~gm about it. This is a good fix and will lessen the frustration of starting a new character.
