Well, if we're being relative, it's objectively worse than Spear Crusher. I don't think your damage will be horrible, but it won't be as good as a hybrid/spear DrK with equal equips.
No one in their right mind would go with a Spear build first over a Polearm build when it comes to third job, but assuming they did I really believe that taking Dragon Fury (Spear) over Crusher is the right choice even if the damage is slightly outclassed while it's situational (need 6 mobs). You're overlooking the range on Fury which is actually ridiculous especially when it comes to the map most DKs will be training at (FoG, absolutely packed to the brim with spawn). 1 point in Fury is better than Slash Blast and Crusher. I would prioritize Fury over Crusher even with a Spear first build (but again who would do this?).
Alright cool, I was wondering how much worse PA would be for bossing w/crusher. So for a pure PA DK, would fury be better for bossing?
The damage multiplier on a PA when you stab (ex. Crusher) is 3*STR compared to swinging (ex. Fury) which is 5*STR. The opposite is true for spears. So...based on my rough math you would be doing 60% of the damage with PA Crusher as opposed to using a spear with the same attack and Spear Crusher. And no, Crusher > Fury for bossing because you'll have SE and 3 lines > 1 line for more opportunities to proc the crit. Your saving grace with a PA end game weapon is that the Purple Surfboard is Fast (5) and it has a higher base attack than Sky Skis. I don't know how SI factors into all this, but since most DrKs opt for Spears I'm assuming they are superior after all.
Hi. I'm having a question for weapon. According to the guide, is it means it is not necessary to use lvl77 maple pyrope spear? And moreover, Sky ski and Pinaka, which one should I use I'm not really know how to decide. One has higher speed another one has higher damage. Thx u
When I hit LVL160 I'll have beholder, achilles, power stance, berserk and maple warrior maxed with 1 point in rush, hero's will and monster magnet. Which is more useful to start levelling next, hex of the beholder (to 20) or rush?
Great guide! I found it very useful as I'm currently working on my very own dark knight. A few points that I would improve: - In the second third job SP build, the build doesn't match the summary on the right. (One says to max dragon fury on polearm and the other says spear) - In the description for both third job SP builds you say that this is the best option in your opinion. This is pretty confusing...
If you boss use Sky ski to achieve higher DPS/DPM (damage per second/minute). If you train then that depends: If you have a pinaka or some other slow speed spear with a lot higher attack that can reduce the number of attack to kill a mob then that will be better than using sky ski. For example, if you use sky ski (normal speed with lower weapon attack) 2 hits kill a monster, but you can 1 hit kill with a pinaka (slow speed but higher attack), then for that example pinaka will be a better option.
I would like to add something that I tested. I have a Pinaka att 127 and a Sky ski att 117. I tested them bossing and for my point of view, the DPS are pretty similar. In other words: +1 speed = 10 attack.
But you can't say be ever 1 attack speed = 10 wa, is the same than say 5 str = 1 wa, isnt. Ever have to see all cases, its why i love formula. Btw, Slow weapons have one thing that few peoples think: them with SI earn 7 attacks each minute, Normal weapon earn 4. It and the price can be the real veredict between one calculator and some spears. iRewinD
Yea, for pure Pole Arm DrK's, Fury are best bossing. One moment fast with calculator can show that [lets multiply just the differences): Usual: 5 multipler (Fury) x 87 attacks (Fury with Fast PSB + 1 attack speed by Booster) x 250% damage = 1087,5% 3 multipler (Crusher) x 68 attacks (The same, but with Crusher) x 510% damage = 1040,4% With SI the final numbers are 1175% and 1132,2%. iRewinD

Some details for make that faster: 139 accuracy for Skeles, when 113+ 172 accuracy for Oblivion, 4 when 131+ 159 accuracy for Horntail, when 160+ . 3- Get that, and after dont care more with Accuracy, just improve your damage. If you get more accuracy than you need, worth you trade your Accuracy things for Dex, so, maybe, if you be rich and want make one end-gamer DrK (about itens), worth use dex instead of accuracy. Btw, remember that have somethings who can also be done with more accuracy, like trade your Top and Bottom for one Overall with Str. iRewinD
@Plenty , the part about killing coolies says teeth go for 1m per stack. Super outdated, it's 300k per stack now.
