Note: i do not intend to be mean or hateful

I came into the server wanting to play my favourite class, the night lord. I jump in and struggle with money. I eventually get to lvl 73 with decent equips only to realize my health is too low to do anything down the road. I then realize i essentially have to remake my character (fair enough) but this time i need to level with int equips. This means i need money for those int equips and eventually ap resets as well. Now i need a lot of money and all i can do is wait for gach. I have tried grinding for drops but the rates are too low. Basically i have to wait it out till i get some decent gach....

In the end i want to be a successful NL. What is success in the maple world? its mesos and high level both of which come from not actually playing the game. You can afk and leech, and vote without actually playing the game. This means to be successful at the game, you dont even need to play that much. Normally you would think hard work dictates success but i guess not. This lack of play create gaps of motivation and drive making the game dull unless you have mesos. In order to promote leveling and getting rich, the drop rate should be increased from 2x to 4x. This would make the near useless "godly" items worth more as we can get better items. Furthermore, there will be more scrolls creating a higher supply and therefore lower demand. This makes the flow of mesos softer and easier with more people selling and buying since the scrolls will be worth a little less. With more scrolls we can have more mesos for players and better equips in general (nearing an age where all equips are perfect). This will be exciting as we can all create near-godly items and will be more excited to train since we can actually get items and mesos WHILE we level. Both the economy and population will benefit from this since people will not be 'quitting' as often and money can be made from low levels too (without really harming high level gear).

I know im new to the server so id love to read what people have to say. Also if i wasnt clear (which i probably wasnt) let me know :D

tldr; the game is too vote (mesos) to win. Make the drop rate higher so that hardwork and GAMEPLAY ensues rather than making your money do all the work.

Although I can see where you're coming from, everyone has to start somewhere. Everyone had to start from the very bottom and work their way up. That's Maplestory, you have to put in the time to get wherever you want to be. Even the higher level people in the server all started from the rock bottom when they started and worked their way up.

I don't think raising the drop rate will help at all; if anything it will just inflate the economy because of more mesos flowing into the economy of the server, thus making everything more expensive.

Although the prices are outdated, the items the guide mentions are still relevant and still can be sold to make money, so check out that guide and tell me how it goes.

There's even more guides under the subsection 'Guides' on Help and Advice section of the forums. From my experience this server has been helpful and welcoming to newer players. We can show you the the way, but you have to at the very least meet us halfway. Gotta put in the work bro like the rest of us, can't expect everything to be presented on a silver platter.

Well here's some friendly advice. You have other options than just waiting for gach. Voting only gets you 8k nx which is equivalent to something like 30m which you will come to realize that it really isn't much at all for a day. I suggest you learn the market and look for effective ways to make mesos ( there are lots of way). Making mesos is super simple once you actually understand how money and probability works and making a billion per week isn't all that hard if you go about it the right way (and no you don't have to play like 6 hours a day). And like Prideful said, you shouldn't expect to be able to make things happen so quick as everyone starts at the bottom. Have patience, be aware of the possibilites around you, and make things happen instead of waiting for things to happen.

As for the suggestion, making the drop rate higher would cause a lot of problems unfortunately. It's similar to the idea of printing too much money, and other misbalances would occur as well such as mages being able to make even more money than now compared to other classes.

Let me just use myself as an example here on why you don't need to leech, HP wash or anything like that to play the game and enjoy it.

I started out 2 years ago with my first character, my main character, a sin. Had no clue what HP washing was. Didn't care, either. I got my first zhelm at level 90 by some guildies who kept trying to take me on runs so I could buy one. I had people telling me left and right I was going to ruin my character by not HP washing. Of course it made me freak out a bit - who wants to ruin their character? But I didn't have the money to buy expensive int gear, so I didn't bother. Occasionally a guildie let me borrow their gear when I leveled up, but otherwise I didn't really care about it.

I made another character at some point- a priest. Not because I wanted a bishop to make money with (I actually hate playing bishops and mained a priest in GMs until 4th job was released, immediately quit after a few hours of harpies leech.). But I made a priest because I missed grinding with heal and himes with a drk.

Eventually got to 120, got Triple Throw, leveled at skeles and newties until 135. Still didn't really HP wash much. I had no trouble bossing, was able to zak just fine. Hit 155 and was able to HT just fine because I had a dark knight who gave HB. Now I'm 193 and still able to HT just fine with 7.6k base HP. I just need a DrK in my party, which is fine since there's drks who still want to HT anyway!

I've been in the server for 2 years and because I take it slow and just enjoy my time here, I'm still working on better gear. I've now got a lvl 13x bucc that is my little project baby, I'm starting to HP/MP wash it because I can. I dont /need/ to but it's a fun project. I've got a 116 mage that I'm making into an ice/lightning mage because I enjoy the class. I waste my money on leveling other characters because I enjoy it. And in the end that's what matters - you do what you enjoy doing. I'll easily spend an entire day or even a week just sitting around in the FM with friends.

I also disagree with increasing drop rate. I would actually be in favor of it decreasing as I feel that there is a lot of mesos already entering the market today. Also, you admitted to being new. No one starts off with billions of mesos. You work your way up, just like everyone else. Although it's frustrating, everyone has gone through the same, or similar, circumstances that you have. Once you are at a higher level and able to boss and such, money comes naturally. If you are able to follow the market and merch, it will come even sooner. I chose to HP wash as a luxury. I feel like a lot of people are treating HP washing as a necessity/entitled thing, but it really isn't. People who choose to wash have to invest a lot of time and mesos into it. Every bossing class is able to do so with zero washing. Sila is a prime example of that haha. I personally have bemoaned the amount of mesos it has taken to wash my characters and have wished on multiple occasions that I chose to just play my characters as is. I just force myself to do it because I'm not the most careful or attentive person so I know it will help me a lot.

I think the problem for you (and a lot of newcomers for that matter) is that you're comparing yourself with people you shouldn't be. Don't worry too much about becoming the best player in the server but instead focus on having fun instead. Once you've established yourself and got the hang of the server then you can start working towards that 30k hp NL or whatever it is you want to do, it becomes a lot easier and attainable then. Remember, this is a game after all, having fun is the most important thing, don't stress yourself out by comparing yourself to others!

P.S. - you don't need to hp wash like crazy or have godly gears to do bosses, you just need a nice group of friends 0:)

Do as I did at first when I just started out; Make your character, get 60 base INT before level 30 and go dexless (25 base DEX). Keep the DEX at 25 and INT at 60. Get to level 135 with your 60 base INT and spend a small amount of money on the cheapest INT gear you can find (maybe you get 20-30 extra int?) along the way to level 135. By the time you're finally 135 you should have enough HP washes available for anything really, reset your INT and build your character however you want. :)

Thanks for the advice guys, i guess the money/drop rate problem isnt that big after all. The only concern is i want to play and not die on bosses and im not too sure i can do that. Currently i have a lvl 73 hermit with 2.4 k hp, i dont mind remaking one (itll actually be fun since my cousin might join MR aswell) but now i kind of need a character slot. If i can, i guess ill just make a sin with base int and cheap int equips and wash later down the road when i need. Now i have to delete my other 2 characters and im not sure how to go about doing that...

PS i guess you guys would know more about the market and the rates since you've been playing for years. My bad, i was just frustrated xD

If you want to keep this char, you can always start over and make a new account as well too! Just make sure you only vote for one of your accounts per day, not all of them ^^ If you just want to delete it, then you should be able to do it in game on your own
