To start things off, the policy has to a certain extent make the game a less motivating game to play. However it may have its own rights which really depends whether somebody might actually abuse this priority for their own benefits. Of course there are people who will disconnect every once in awhile when fighting a boss. Yes, it could either be because of the server issues or internet connectivity and perhaps some other reasons like graphics compatibility that would result in a disconnection. It is definitely very disheartening to experience a disconnection when a person has spent hours trying to take down a boss just for the sake of its experience or drops. Boss hunting is actually the most efficient way for higher level players to level up considering that they give a lot of experience. I do believe that the community would definitely want to receive help more frequently due to such instances when something misfortunate happens to them like being kicked out of the game. Since there are so many loopholes in this game, yes it is still an enjoyable game even if it isn't perfect as one should expect. I do commend on those Game Masters who are willing to help make this game better for players by warping them back into boss fights promptly. But players may not always be so lucky most of the time to receive help unless they make an appeal or meet the rules and regulations accordingly. I really think that this shouldn't be the case completely to be honest. If a Game Master who denies help when a person experiences a genuine problem and is legitimately telling the truth to hope for an assist, I think that the staff should try and help out. Also, please have some compassion for players, considering that you also play the game and might experience issues like disconnecting while attacking a boss. Why must you turn a blind eye and ignore those in cry for help just because it's their fault? Note that everybody makes mistakes once in awhile and so you should excuse their flaws. I do not think that it is that hard to warp a player or party back into the game with your capabilities as a Game Master. It would be much appreciated if the staffs are more willing to attend to people who have been kicked out of the game for whatever the reason it may be. Lastly, if I was actually given the rights to become a Game Master, I would definitely be willing to help those who were expelled from fighting boss monsters if they got disconnected. I think that if warping is issued out more, it would really make a huge impact to the community. If they politely request help by either using the command or via thread, attend to them as soon as you can and acknowledge them. Please try to understand how people would feel if their efforts had gone to waste. The important thing is to help unconditionally with compassion. Show that you, as a staff honestly care about the majority of us commoners in game. If you have read all throughout this thread, thanks for stopping by and have a pleasant day ahead. That's the problem. How do we know they are telling the truth? Because it's their fault? We are not here to hold your hand and fix your mistakes. If we or the server makes a mistake, then we fix it and try to get you back to the state you were at before the mistake happened. However, just like in real life, if you make a mistake, it's up to you to fix it, not us. I don't think it's fair to say we are not willing to help people out. We are certainly willing if they got disconnected due to a server sided issue. And you're right, it would really make a huge impact to the community. More people would lie about getting disconnected to get a rewarp, which would mean effectively unlimited boss runs and more work for the staff for something they shouldn't have to do. We used to be very lenient on boss rewarping -- and then the community ruined it when we found out the extent to which people lied about getting disconnected or lag. It became even more disheartening when those in the community who we saw as the more well-known members even encouraged other players to claim lag or DC if they die in the boss. In short, the staff gave the players the benefit of the doubt, the players took advantage of our kindness, so we took the privilege away.
Thanks for the sarcasm here but this is a serious matter so please don't behave so childishly all right? 1. Well, there may be crooks out there playing as black sheeps and it can be quite hard to identify amongst who is actually speaking the truth over this matter. But regardless, you should try to settle the problem with them by conducting an investigation procedure. You kind of need to trust strangers too in game when dealing with some form of transactions alike. 2. I believe it is quite safe to say that MapleRoyals is probably the only online game (if I'm wrong let me know) that constantly disconnects people out of the game. It has become a very obnoxious issue for many players I would say, who always gets kicked out especially when bossing. 3. Same thing here, do an investigation first if you can and will, before confirming the warp. 4. Perhaps, that might just be an instance of desperation for them to go the extent of lying. However, the server is known to be quite unstable on several occasions and have many technical problems at present. It is more likely that people would ask for assistance pertaining to the disconnections trouble for a reason. It's only up to you to decide at the end of the day to be kind enough to help or just neglect it.
The reason the policy was changed in the first place was because too many players on this server have abused our trust to gain rewarps for errors they should've never been allowed a rewarp for, this was achieved by them lying to us. It was getting to a point where entire parties would support players lying to GMs to have a chance to gain rewarps, it was absolutely disgusting so to say. They knew exactly what to tell us to make it sound like a believable claim to what would qualify for a rewarp according to our old policy, while later we would find out they lied to us. For this reason we now only warp for server related issues, because it's a lot easier for us to judge whether those issues really happened or not. This change will not be reversed since we are volunteer Staff members, not living lie detectors, and don't want to have to spend 30 minutes per warp just to fully investigate whether the person is lying to us or not. As mentioned by members of Staff multiple times, if the issues are server related we will warp for them. However, when your disconnection issue has been caused by or could've been prevented by yourself, why would members of Staff have to fix the issue for you? I fail to comprehend that. I don't think you understand that there are issues we can not investigate at all, namely the client related ones. We can not see that you have disconnected to a GFX error, a connection error or whether you just logged off. With that said, what you ask of us here is simply impossible. And a lot of players are that desperate and will lie, that's just how it is as sad as it sounds. I don't think you quite understand how many times players died at a boss fight, relogged and then claimed they got disconnected due to server issues. The only way we can prevent them from getting rewarded for lying is to simply not rewarp at all for the kind of issues they can lie about since we can't check if what they claimed actually happened.
I just think that if people don't disconnect so frequently when playing the game, there will not be any reason for people to ask for a warp. Unfortunately the problem is a plague that is really hard to counter for most people. It is only on boss runs like zakum or horned tail and even krexel that the disconnection problem is extremely prevalent to players. The effort of forming a party, time and potions or attack buffs used to eventually get kicked out without defeating the boss is really frustrating really. Strangely enough it doesn't happen or rarely even happen on other bosses like papulatus clock or those bosses that doesn't have an entrance limit. We only have 2 entrance per day and having to wait for the cool down for another just because of the likelihood of experiencing that disconnection is rather discouraging really... I know that you are trying to justify the possibility of people abusing by putting the warp policy before approving their appeal if they meet the requirements. People don't only get kicked out of game because of server sided connection but also some times for no apparent reason and game bugs. Consider this as factual and it would also be a fair reason to ask for a warp because it really isn't our fault most of the time. I know that the policy is fixed and cannot be negotiated but this is just my opinion after all...
The issue is that there is no way to prove it. Since people have abused our trust, we will no longer approve anything that we cannot see or experience for ourself. I'm sure things out of my control happens sometimes. And yeah it might feel unfair because I didn't do anything wrong, but if I can't prove it then there is no reason for them to refund me. It is NOT fair to give rewarps when there is no proof that there was a legitimate dc. I find it more unfair to players who are honest and don't ~gm if they know it was their fault if people have the chance to lie and get free stuff out of it. Should the honest people really have to sit back and watch dishonest people get ahead? This way it keeps everyone accountable and on the same playing field. And I'm sorry if I sound cynical, but I've seen more than my fair share of people who I thought were honest people actually end up being the ones who encourage others to lie to get a rewarp. In my opinion, I think people should realize that we are at least taking care of the issues that are caused by the client. Some other places give no rewarps period.
Is there any way this lag can be fixed? No one would be having this argument if there was lesser lag. I personally D/C one out of three or even one out of 2 times from zakum even after GFXing correctly and using a wired connection. It sucks when you use 2 apples and end up D/C ing at the end of the third body having all that money go down the drain.
If there is lag then that has nothing to do with GFXing. By now most people would be familiar with the new source, the whole point of it is to solve the source sided dc problems we are having. So yes it can be fixed.
I wasn't saying that GFXing has anything to do with the lag, but that I try and pull out all stops to prevent D/Cing yet it happens. Glad to know that it can be fixed and very eagerly awaiting the new lag free source
