I first start playing in ems pre big bang, have been on and off from time to time, but I've never thought I'd still do this today. I think for now, I login daily for some nice people in game to small chat with and buying fames to reach the 2nd place on fame rank list(the 1# is way 2 hard) at the same time helping some new players I've met while I'm online. So to you guys, why are you still playing? What makes you keep coming back to this game/community
2008 GMS was my shit. Like spent all my childhood money on those damn nx cards. Then hid them to hide my addiction. This game is addictive as hell. I don't even level up anymore but I can waste hours "playing". I literally quit for a year and came back. Why? I think it's the chaos of the scrolling system and the adrenaline and risk mixed with gambling at gach. Haha. I'm really high right now, but I feel like this is pretty honest.
Partly nostalgia. But mostly the fact that I genuinely enjoy the dull, repetitive process of clicking shift at a bunch of pixels for hours at a time, with no sense of actual gratification or enjoyment. Oh god why do I play this game During my free time, I also enjoy ramming my face into the wall.
Because I love hours upon hours of mind numbing grinding that helps me to deal with Pokemon go servers being down
I enjoy two things: grinding and socializing. Maplestory has the potential for those two things to be quite enjoyable and MapleRoyals does have the right idea about it.
The nostalgia + social aspect is what it makes it better than other MMOs in my opinion, things like Party Quests and chilling in FM. Also the graphics are nice. It's a shame that the new MapleStory has basically made PQs useless, instead encouraging solo grinding and trying to get as much damage as possible. I find myself coming back to MapleStory around once a year or so, no-life it for a week and then get bored of it again. Anyone else have this as well?
