I don't know why it happens but sometimes I d/c in bosses ( zak, HT ..), although I GFX. I am writing this right after d/cing once again from HT after its main body spawned ( I GFX when it spawned but seconds later d/ced). This problem really ruins all the fun and enjoyment. Which model of AMD? Some graphics card are not meant for gaming although technically speaking this version of maplestory does not take a huge demand on graphical usage. You might want to try playing in windowed mode instead of full screen (press alt-tab or changing option in system options). Windowed mode is less demanding for the graphics card and you'll have extra fps.
