Hello, this is a topic I discussed in the Shoutbox yesterday, however I'm making this thread to more appropriately discuss player killing.

What is Player Killing? - Player killing is when a user of a black sack purposely opens the sack releasing high-leveled mobs on lower level players, thus resulting in mass player deaths.

What should be done about it? - I would highly suggest prohibiting the use of the sacks in beginner towns such as Henesys, Kerning City. I believe this will give the new players a fair chance to put up a fight against the mobs at higher level areas where black sacks are also being used. Example: LPQ.

Why I believe this is a problem - For a new player, they most likely want to level up and enjoy the game right? For lower levels -10% may not seem like much, however this can add up quickly if said abusers constantly PK. (Player Kill)

Your opinion - Do you think Pking should be limited? or punishable if abused? Please leave a comment below, even if you are for PKing please state why you believe it should stay as is.

I think it's fine unless someone is being specifically targeted(harassed)

Isn't exp loss only -1% in towns anyway? And what @liomio said. I think it's fine as a little bit of fun as long as it doesn't turn into harassment.

I may not care all too much either way, but is there actually a legit purpose to the sacks outside of trolling people?

People use sacks to level in places without monsters and also for the nx that the bosses drop

Monster galore bags are used for the NX or what Liomio said, like someone leveling to 200. Balrog sacks are often used for warriors trying to get one of their 4th job skills rather than trying to hunt Jr Rog all the way in deep sleepywood. The others are just for fun I guess but theyre not really common nor dangerous since they just have slimes and stuff.
@Buccaneer that sounds like a bug, shouldn't happen afaik so I'll mention it

Odd. I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be only -1% in towns at least.

How about this scenario; Player A summons sacks in the ludi pq entrance area and kills some lowbie players. Player B responds to the abuse by lashing out in frustration, calling the summoner names. Player A then reports the person he had just finished abusing for saying bad words and a ban results.

This does not seem right to me at all. The way I see it, you purposefully killed a player which resulted in loss of exp, that player should be free to say anything they like to the other player, as there is now an understanding between them and turnabout is fair play. Basically, it's baiting and should be considered when dealing with this sort of abuse.

Just like how, if someone calls you a name you don't care for, you have the choice of just letting it go, reporting it, or, since you now have an understanding, go ahead and call this person a name right back. They assumed you were okay with it, so maybe you are. They should be as well.

    https://royals.ms/forum/threads/offensive-homophobic-and-unnecessary-slurs.75391/

This thread illustrates my point, the player banned even mentions in the screen cap they had lost %30 to this players summons. Furthermore, the guild chat in the phone pic indicates that this was premeditated and devised to try and get someone banned.

I think it's definitely bad to do that however as long as it doesn't turn into harassment or people don't spam the bags, I don't think it should be bannable..If it's once in awhile, it's bad (not enough to be bannable) but if people excessively use them at LPQ then yes, i think they should be punished.

There doesn't need to be a rule that goes over every single scenario, gms are smart enough to use their own intuition in situations like your example to do what's right.

I believe the current rule is such: summon bags are allowed as long as it doesn't turn into harassment (e.g. targeting players by following them and repeatedly using bags when told to stop). In the scenario that you listed, if the player getting summoned on has indeed been treated like such, he/she has the right to report and get justice. However, this doesn't give him/her an excuse to use abusive language/racial slurs. In cases where both party commit bannable offences (with solid evidence provided), both will receive punishment.

Also, I personally think summon bags are a part of nostalgia XD so feel free to throw some at me

Edit: I realize I should start carrying safety charms after saying this.

I think it's fine to have them in game, but please just keep them away from beginning towns and pq areas. That's all I'm asking.

It really makes me upset if I die at least once a day by someone summoning on lower leveled players such as myself. I believe some of you are missing the point of this topic, I mean if this were to happen everyday that you try to train think about it. -10% Every single day (If the summoners choose) That's a lot of loss in exp by the time you actually need to become a high level to actually deal with it.

Honestly, training without pqs is problematic.. I enjoy socializing with people, without pqs it's like playing in modern anti-social maplestory. Which ultimately kills what fun you had left.

Also I would like to add this: What if the person doesn't want to be killed? What if the person doesn't find it funny at all and that is in fact ruining their experience with Royals? I never asked to be killed, but people don't seem to care.

Well, I can see it being frustrating for someone to lose 10% every day, especially if he/she doesn't play much. However, recalling my experiences starting in this server, I have only had this happen to me ~2 times over maybe a month or so, and this was when I played daily, so I personally don't see this becoming a problem. Of course, I can't speak for everyone here.

My personal opinion: this is part of a game, if I get summoned on occasionally, I'll have a laugh about it and won't mind. My arguments are:
    1. We should have some tolerance toward mildly bad behaviour: although the majority of players I have met on this server are nice, a few are unpleasant. We never ask for unpleasant behaviours, but if it's nothing extreme, I would just shrug and move on. GM's aren't here to babysit the players. If a player is seriously bad and toxic to the community, then the report abuse section will take care of that.
    2. This is a part of original game (and hence nostalgia, which is one of the major themes of the server). The game developers intended to have summon bags as part of the fun (or painful experience, if you look at it that way). There are a lot of things we can change about the game to make it easier, but we choose not to because it's part of the game's challenge. Again, if a player is abusing that fun repeatedly at the harsh expense of other players, GM's will take care of that and keep the server generally friendly.
    Edit: word and punctuation

    Seeing as how my original post was deleted;

Unfortunately there are jerks in this world (and in MapleRoyals) who like to egg people on and enjoy watching people get upset. Yes, I agree getting killed in Kerning or Hene or LPQ is pretty annoying, but this is not a new issue and everyone has to deal with it. Yes, I've been killed in a town before and yes it was frustrating, but I got over it and continued to level and made my 10% back.

A bunch of people have said it already, but I also agree that this is not a real issue unless someone is specifically targeting you and killing you regularly and often. If that's the case then I fully support you.

At the end of the day you chose if you want to let something like this bother you.

I think the best thing to do would be make sure the EXP loss is 1% in the LPQ entrance map, since that's the only place where hate on the black sack comes from. That way, people won't lose enough EXP to frustrate them, but black sack users can still get the gratification of killing a random player. If this were implemented, I would try to kill 10 players at once so that its basically like 10%. That would be sick.

As many ppl have mentioned. The summoning sack isn't too much of an issue unless u are being targeted on purpose. And in that case, that's harassment and actions will be taken according to T&Cs.

Other than those monster galore sacks and barlog sacks which still serves some other purpose, the other sacks serve no other purpose except to disturb other players. So punishing players for summoning the sacks in crowded areas is kinda a contradiction (might as well remove the other sacks directly). In addition, summoning sacks are part of the nostalgia that royals wants to replicate.

Usually, the occurrences of high lvled monsters being summoned in low-lvled area isn't all that common to deserve much attention. Esp in super low lvled areas like Kerning, 10% isn't much at all. For LPQ, staying at the top avoids most, if not all, dmgs (in usual cases whereby monsters are summoned at the bottom). Most reasons ppl die is because ppl afk. That's really your own fault, cos FM is a button's click away and that's a summon-free area.

Anw, u get free 8k NX everyday if you vote. Buy some safety charm, its cheap. There goes your exp loss woes!

Thus in my opinions, there's no cause of concern over the summoning sacks. With the sole exception that you are being constantly targeted, and thats when the T&Cs come into play. Summoning sacks are absolutely a part of maple.

Instead of trying to make a new rule every time someone gets upset over something trivial, people need to loosen up a little. If you've never been killed by monsters from a summoning sack, you've never played Maple Story. It's all part of the experience. I do agree that unless it's a harassment case, people should just shrug it off and move on.

Regardless, we should embrace the summoning sacks.

Personally, I agree with the restriction of using sacks in PQ places and towns.
But if we're not gonna do that, why not just lower the EXP loss in PQ places/towns to 0%...? It feels very unnecessary to lose EXP over something another player caused you, even if it's a little bit.
If you're higher leveled, and happen to be AFK, then it's really gonna suck if you lose 1 to 10% because of a damn sack.
