Hello everyone. I had a question about the whole public vpn thing. I read the post by gm TimK about "Do not use Public VPN services for MapleRoyals - Posted by TimK". But can anyone help this poor dumb soul about what they are in detail? For example, I play royals at home and also at my school using school wifi. ( I have a long gap between classes). Is that okay to do? Thanks in advance! Tony
Vpn is the short form of "Virtual Private Network". To my understanding, they are third party softwares used to change your IP address into a 'virtually created' IP. The purposes of using a VPN is to (1) avoid IP bans (this may be because someone was banned for hacking, or a person cannot legally access a game due to region block); (2) avoid restricted access from parental control; or (3) to be anonymous. There are other purposes but I forgot what they are. In your example, you are only using two different networks to access the game, which I THINK is permissible. That should be okay.
What you're doing could be a problem if someone using the schoolwifi gets banned. This presumebly would mean your account gets banned as well, as that is what usually happens to people using a public vpn.
