While I write this post out of sheer frustration, I will try to keep the tone neutral and not too whiny I am a newly 120 bishop trying to obtain a Manon's cry for my gene quest. I read the guide and camped Manon for probably about 8 or so hours in total at this point. I have been the map owner at the time Manon has spawned two times. Both of them dropped tears. However, in both instances, the channel was overrun with people attacking and I was unable to loot it. In both cases I have a few screen shots that clearly show me as the map owner, asking the other players to leave. They did not. I understand that I can report them for ksing and get them banned. I suppose that's ok but what I really want is a tear. I have come across other Manon spawns where others were killing it and it always looks like there's a ton of people not partied that just scramble for the drop regardless of map owner. Is that normal? Does map ownership matter? It seems to me like it doesn't. I guess what I'm really looking for here is some advice. I don't care about getting people banned for ks. I just want the tear so I can get my gene and enjoy one of the really cool parts of being a bishop. If I post a ks report, will that result in a gm giving me a tear which should have been mine? If not, what's the best way to get the item? I apologize for all the whining and thanks for reading
Sadly, that's a ritual every bishop has to go through. To successfully have someone banned for ksing, there's a lengthy requirement that you've to fulfil. I'll link you to the sticky thread: https://royals.ms/forum/threads/new-report-abuse-format-for-ksing.57289/ If you're getting KS by other players, and they refuse to leave despite your requests, then I suspect you hadn't been saying the "right things". Many players who have been around this server long enough knows the requirements to get someone banned for ks is extensive, and often, the manon is dead before you could gather enough evidence and sometimes they might stick around until you say all the stuff that will get them banned if they still don't leave. It all boils down to how well revised you are with the KSing report requirements and how ~mapowner works. Spoiler: If someone is ksing you in manon, do these: Have pet autopot on and hug Manon's body, this way, it can't dispel you and instantly kill you. Pull up your chat log, and do a ~mapowner command Say "cc pls" If they still don't leave then ask them to leave politely, because "cc pls" is not sufficient, say something like "can you the map please? I'm the mapowner". Then you have to say this, "KSing is a bannable offense, please leave". If they still continue to attack the manon, type ~bosshp and take an SS Otherwise, most likely they would ask to loot an extra cry if it drops, if so, tell them to wait outside. Even if they stopped attacking but still remains in the map, tell them it is bannable to stay in the map while you're the mapowner. If they are stubborn and still refuses to leave, take another ss with ~bosshp and/or ~mapowner. You've fulfilled the ks report requirements. Although I do hope you don't make use of this to file petty reports but only report people who shows malicious intent to ks you. Killing a manon as a bishop is very hard, since manon dispels and stuns. But I've found that tanking the manon's body helps prevent the dispels. Also, if you've found a manon, you can hang on to the map and ask a guildie or buddy to help you. Just remember that the person helping you must leave the map before manon dies and you're the only one in the map having done the most damage to the manon. I might be able to help you but I won't be online for the 8 hours or so... Unfortunately, you won't get a manon cry refund even if you successfully have the person banned. However, saying all the stuff that fulfills the requirements for a ks report will hopefully scare he/she away from staying and ksing you. Mapownership matters. And I applaud that your first reaction isn't to make insignificant reports and get people banned I wish you good luck
In addition to riv's excellent advice, I want to add another viable option. If the person helping you attack has the same quest open (for the first time, not having completed it before), he can stay in the map and kill it without leaving the map. After a few moments after Manon dies, you should be able to loot the cry. Good luck to you, 3rd time's the charm!
Thanks for the words of advice. I'd like to say that the third time was the charm, but no dice I had an interesting experience that spawned a couple more questions though... After camping a channel for awhile, he spawned again (yay!). I start whacking away (very slowly) at him, and after maybe 5-10 mins a low level cleric comes into my channel. He's just chillin' not attacking or anything so I don't say anything to him. Then when the boss is about 5% left, 2 guys come in and nuke him. The lights of course go off and I realize the low level is just a scout so people can snipe the boss. I have a couple questions about the mechanics of that: 1. Do I need to get the last hit to get my drop? 2. If so, how do you threaten people enough to not do it since it's going to be pretty tough to go through the whole "cc please" then "I will report" etc. in the 10 seconds it takes for them to get the kill and loot. It seems really difficult to prove since you'd have to check ips of the two accounts logged in and that's assuming it's the same person on the same computer behind a common router to prove it's the same person and even then there's doubt. In the end in my case I don't think it mattered since I'm pretty sure he didn't drop a tear anyway but I was just curious if boss sniping is a thing I also have to watch out for ...
I haven't heard or seen people sniping bosses but that's just classless... 1. No, I do not think so. If you had dealt the most damage to the manon, the drop table will be assigned accordingly to you, so it'll drop the manon cry with item id based on your quest. (I might be wrong about this). 2. By the rules, the person isn't allowed to stay in your map if you're the mapowner and you've asked him to leave, so you can report him. I believe the admins are able to check ip logs but that shouldn't be a cause for worry, because if one account is banned, all his other accounts that are linked with the same ip and mac are banned too. The requirements I mentioned to you is to "threaten" some of the experienced players that just doesn't give a fuck knowing if you hadn't fulfil the requirements for a ks report, they wouldn't be banned. It all comes down to if the person really wants to KS you or not. If not, saying "cc please" usually would make a person leave. Don't just say "cc please or I will report", that is not enough, you'd have to say something these (along these lines) "ksing is a bannable offense", you'd have to flash "~mapowner", and "please kindly leave my map" with multiple, unedited SS's to successfully report someone.
Ahhhh I got it! Thank you for the replies and encouragement. It's really appreciated. I owe you some free leech sometime
I can confirm this, as long as you have dealt the most damage, are alive and in the map when manon is killed, you should be the one that can loot the drops.
You dont need to damage manon if you have a friend helping you as long as you are in a party together (not sure if the other person needs to have the htpq active as well). The person helping you can also remain in the map.
That is only correct if both players are doing the quest for the first time. If the higher level "helper" has already done the quest before, he/she has to leave the map. Unless this was recently changed in a server check 2 days ago? The person who is doing the dragon elixer quest for the first time has to be the one that has done the most damage in the map. There are two manon cry (two items IDs), see: https://royals.ms/library/?page=items&search=manon's cry The first time you do the quest it's called War of the dragons, while the second time onwards, when you need to replenish your dragon elixers, you're given the the "Making the secret medicine......" quest, which are different quests, hence, requiring different manon crys.
Ok thanks for adding that, didnt know it! Was the first time for both when i did it so that explains it
