Not only was there no monetary gain, no transaction took place so there was no "illegal trade" (disregarding the fact that there is nothing that states said trade would be illegal) either. Ummm lol. That definitely falls under rule number 12: I have no idea how you would think that would be allowed anyway.
Which one of those does it fall under though? Most certainly not an advertisement, chain letter, pyramid scheme, or investment opportunity. You could very loosely define it as a solicitation, although since there was no actual transaction that seems rather inappropriate.
We wouldn't wait for the transaction to go through before a ban is issued. Just as if somebody threatens to hack or ddos the server... We would ban them for the intent before they actually commit the offense (whether they go through with it or not). If you are unsure if something is against the rules you can always ask on the forum prior to attempting it to avoid problems like this in future.
