ive been battling addiction with perscription painkillers for the past two years. but it seems that the only thing that can really keep me clean is by playing maplestory. the problem though, is that im trading in one addiction for another. last two week i kept trying to get myself banned. but today while still banned i relapsed. i think being addicted to maplestory might not be such a bad thing for the next couple months until i can mentally overcome my other addiction. does anybody have the same problem? Btw if you come across me in game dont treat like differently. and be all judgemental. i am a normal person.
We're creatures of habit. Our minds are constantly running in this loop of what we're accustomed to and have allowed ourselves to rely on. You've ruptured the pattern with Maplestory. And although gaming is much better than abusing painkillers, you can't keep it up forever. Your mind will always find a way to fill in the void and to pass time. But it'll catch up to you. Obviously this game isn't the cure. Research and read, read, read. Find out ways you can try and deal with your addiction. And just remember, you can't do it alone. You've got to seek help. Professional help. You're human. We've all got our own demons and ways to distract ourselves from reality--spending hours in front of a television, or a computer screen, drinking every night away, fleeting nights with strangers, drugs to numb the pain, etc etc etc. Don't resist it, accept it. And then find ways to overcome it. Cheers.
