There’s a small core of players still going on, but both our activity and forum presence have been naturally reduced over time. I personally took a break from mapling this last couple of months, and sadly I’m not as active as before (hopefully I’ll take some time to write a progress update soon). Screenshots and daily minor updates are still posted in our Discord Server, and that’s a further reason why our Community Thread has been fairly quiet recently (in short, we’re being lazy. ). This said, the Ironman Challenge/guild is almost 1 year old and still up and running! Although we can’t offer maybe the most exciting community experience right now, people are always free to join and give their contribution to the thread. Ugh. This was so serious. Send me a buddy request with your Ironman char / PM with your IGN and I'll guild you asap.
Hey, I'm going to check in one sec myself but if you aren't there add 2017 whenever you can and Ill add you when it does work out
It depends on how you like to play and what your goals are. Our challenge allows for players to play in a unique style where "end-game items" are most likely never to be perfected. Chances are 4th job will be a long time away (less than 10 have reached level 120 so far!). HP washing is a pain since you cannot buy resets from other users and int-gear relies on int-scrolls to be farmed or gached. With that being said, Mages have been the least popular class, and thieves and warriors being the top 2.
*looks at my 2 mages* from experience mages are cool and can still be fun, but miss out on a lot of things core to the challenge, mages have pretty much 0 scrolls you can farm, and with lukless being so much better there aren't any equips to farm, unless you're some hipstery loser like my f/p mage, basically the point is mages get very gachapon relient for most of your stuff also not very good bossing, still can if you're a brave soul with lots of time *insert my f/p Bigfoot picture here* While on the other end of the spectrum some of the most popular are warriors which are able to do anything they want because they don't have the problem of hp with slightly less damage than other classes Then thieves and archers are a weird middle ground with thieves being more on the bossing end Then pirates are just these like awkward misfit knock offs of sins/warriors that just isn't super popular That's my view at least, might not be completely accurate, just my interpretation
progress update #1 servers down for a short time so thought i'd post these got my lvl 10 while doing some quests which is nice since im playing with the no NPC rule and got this sucker while training at hhg not much but it made me feel good for some reason ya i regret this xD well so far im level 20 and am really starting to pick up on doing quests, after the server comes back up maybe i can slay some manos lol
Today we finally brought our first Zakum run home, and as a warrior duo! It took us a stupidly long time, but everything went pretty smooth. Overall an interesting experience. Spoiler: drops Spoiler: technicalities Party IronNacht - 151 Hero (main skill: Brandish 30) Samadhi - 157 Paladin (main skill: Blast 20) Arms time: about 40m Total run time: about 2h50m ATK potions used: Nacht: Heartstoppers Sam: about 86 Heartstoppers, then a mix of Pumpkin Pies and Wafers Well, I’m aware that Zruns are generally considered rather trivial, but I thought it was interesting to share some details about ours. Unfortunately, we didn’t record it, but here’s the traditional crappy .gif! Spoiler: traditional crappy .gif Both mine and Nacht chars have been built and geared following the Challenge rules (this also means no Zak/HT exclusive books - you can easily notice that Nacht is running with normal Combo). Moreover, RNG hates me, so I’m still stuck with Blast 20. We got rid of the curse arm asap, then we worked on different arms (Nacht focusing on hitting as many arms as possible / top right arm, while my pally focusing on arms consistently hittable with the damn Blast). Being our first attempt as a duo, and being both unwashed, we decided to avoid going full body tank and get our traditional share of stuns. This has made the run fairly long but safe. We used body and summons damage to avoid what could be avoided (with Nacht being better than me at this), and nasty Wep cancel time to kill/contain summons. I’d say that’s pretty much all about the strategy! Now smile for the camera! Before starting, we agreed on not picking up any Zakum Helmets (we want to keep it as a bounty prize for the actual solo, as IronNacht is working on it), but only our relevant Skill / Mastery Books + exclusive books for other 4th job Irondudes. Sadly we did not drop anything for Heroes or Paladins, but luckily we snatched a Berserk 20. As EoF provider, I've just picked up a Leaf and an Energizer for myself. Peace!
Little rules update: Following the recent changes to the Horntail prequests, Ironman characters are allowed to share their Manon kill with other players in order to avoid conflicts with the rest of the Community. Please note that you only need to get EXP in order to get the kill (basically, hitting at least once and be inside the map while Manon is dying), so a party kill is not strictly necessary. Have fun!
Might take up the challenge tonight with a 24h livestream. I'll keep this post updated. EDIT: My head freakin' hurts and I've been up since 4 am because of work, I'll do a stream tomorrow, the 17th, probably around 10 AM EST untill I'm just tired or dead. Hope to see you there! EDIT 2: IT'S ON! come hang out!
