Ap/Sp resets should be free or reduced in price significantly

This has been seriously bugging me for a very long time and I really don't understand how it has been this way for so long seeing posts as far back as they are about washing and what not. but honestly how is it ok that resets are that expensive? Yeah i understand the idea behind free nx its cool nx was created in maple at first to mostly modify the look of you're character which it should be just for looks not to benefit you in anyway its why I hated what maple turned into but for alot of people and especially new players these resets are a very huge factor into changing how their character functions in game with actual damage and builds and can help you turn a bad situation into a good one for a ridiculous price-tag.

First look at these prices for existing AP/SP resets
3,100 nx for 1 AP reset
    2,400 nx for 1 sp 1st job
    4,900 nx for 1 sp 2nd job
    9,300 nx for 1 sp 3rd job
    12,000 nx for 1 sp 4th job.
Honestly you think that those prices are fair with the current voting system? I can only reset 2 points in an ability if i vote 1 time and cant even reset 2 or 1/1 of any job past 1st job advancement how in the world does that make any sense at all? And remind you this isn't a complete reset its one goddamn point...I understand its a good way for low lvl newcomers to make money, but when i first came to this server I had no idea how to make money till i was almost lvl 50 had no idea what hp washing was and though ok its a Private server I can probably easily reset my skills for free.

but it is the complete opposite. Lets take for instance a new player who creates a warrior and goes by old gms we wont even discuss hp washing right now. So as I was saying a new player warrior class old gms style build Lets say he decides to go with around 60 base Dex because he doesn't really understand yet that he can get the accuracy he needs at higher lvls and misses mobs that are higher lvl's then him so he adds that amount of Dex which even the case is a little lower than the regular Dex build back in the early days, this guy plays for awhile hits 3rd job starts to understand he didn't need so much Dex in his warrior because o yeah there are maple weapons and other equips and scrolls i can use in order to make up for that Dex that i don't need and with all that Dex into str my warrior can be alot stronger. So he decides he wants to put those points back into str. So now he needs to remove 56 dex from his build and put it back into str that is 56 resets he needs to buy with either NX or resets. With nx in order to reset that much dex you need 174 thousand nx rounding up. That is 21 days of voting and saving NX just in order to reset stats that should be an easy thing to do if they were either alot cheaper or free like they should be now if he wants to go the easier route he can go with buying them with mesos. OK so again 56 resets times around 8m we will put it .5 less because of the problems we had occur the other day with all the resets people picked up. which would amount to 448 million mesos in order to reset stats that you screwed up on. AS if it doesn't feel bad enough to mess that up now you have to pay a huge price tag in order to fix things. And if you mess up skills 3rd job sp resets are basically 3times the price of an ap reset which is literally insane. How is that ok? How can you look at those prices and say yup for 1 point that's completely fine. I cant tell you the countless people that mess up their Skill points as well. for instance lets say a first time cleric which this happens very often and i see it alot decides hey holy arrow is pretty cool im gonna max it out but has no idea actually how terrible of a skill it is and i believe you can get it to lvl 11 while maxing everything else out but alot of people don't know how to do that build and max out holy arrow anyway. So now you find out that it was a bad build you are around 3rd job and now you need to reset 19 skill points for 2nd job at 4,900 per reset that's 93,100 nx which again is 11 days of voting and with mesos assuming anyone would want to even buy it for you that's over 200 mill assuming again you are paying at a 3-1 ratio.

These prices are insane, Ap/sp resets need to be free you shouldn't have to spend countless hours grinding for mesos in order to reset ability/skill points if you mess up or have to wait 15+ days when you vote to gain enough nx to be able to do the same thing. It ruins the fun out of it and makes things alot more tedious such as hp washing which costs billions for squishes. And if that's not an option at least lower prices to a very small rate like 500nx per reset or something that way it can still be some sort of benefit to the economy and a source of funds so that way you can get at least get a pretty good amount of resets for voting.

Apology for this being more of a rant but many of you are gonna flip you're lids If i don't show some numbers please just look at this discussion and feedback about resets and look for yourself as to how insane it is. Also please provide you're own feedback into how this could be made into a better system for everyone to benefit from.

I personally don't think the player in your example had to use AP resets at all because he didn't screw up in any possible way.
A lot of players think that you need to have your secondary stat as low as possible but this is far from the truth.
The only time it would matter how many AP you've spent in your secondary stat, would be when your scrolled equips are endgame material and provide you with an excessive amount more stats than you need in order to equip your weapon. By the time you reach this point, buying 30-60 AP resets to lower your secondary stat won't cost relatively as much as you claim it to be in your example since you'll already be in an endgame scenario.
My own Marksman had 50 base str until lvl 170 because I was using a dex scrolled overall rather than a str scrolled one, and when I bought a str overall I chose to remove the excess amount of base str until I'd have precisely 110 to equip my weapon with. However this is a luxury choice I made, as my damage range barely changed when I switched from a 45 stat dex overall to a 45 stat str overall and lowered my base str. With that said it was not necessary at all for me to change my str into dex, I just wanted it for the very tiny difference in damage range when used with maple warrior 20.

I could imagine that it would be different if you completely messed up your character's statistics by for example having 300 str on a magician, but if that happens then it's easier to just remake the character and do it correctly.

As for SP resets, I do believe they are very costly and I wasn't the happiest of players when I followed the wrong guide that told me to max out Gaviotta on an Outlaw, which resulted in me having to remove between 10 and 15 points so I would be able to have enough points in my Octopus move to unlock the 4th job version of it. As a player I wouldn't oppose to them becoming 'slightly' cheaper than they are right now, especially since the cost goes up significantly per job tier. I do however keep in mind that when the new source goes live we are planning to give every player the ability to reset all his SP once for free.

One thing I would not like about AP resets potentially becoming free is how much it will affect the market. Currently a lot of NX gets invested in AP resets and if we were to make them free, it means that this NX gets invested somewhere else. Because of how much NX is being invested in resets, it could affect the market price of other items in a major way if we were to make a change to its price as they would no longer have to invest in them.

I'm going to start off by just quoting what you've said about nx.

It's already something you get for free.

Hp washing is optional and is not required to play the game.

Let us talk about ap resets first.
If anything, lowering ap resets prices or even making it free sounds a little funny to me.
It takes away the nostalgic direction the server is taking, I mean everyone would have a 30k hp character. I feel the current pricing of ap resets is fair. You have to earn it or save like the rest if you want a washed character, because it is supposed to cost you. Not only that, it acts as a meso/nx sink whenever someone purchase and uses an ap reset.

    Now for sp resets.
I agree fully that they are slightly on the steep side, I don't think it should cost as much as it does because players do make mistakes and add wrong skills by accident or even following an outdated or inaccurate guide. One example I could think of would be fighters adding final Attack which hinder them slightly.

To sum it up, ap resets are alright where they are now. Sp resets on the other hand could have some looking into for a reduction in price.

I agree that sp resets are quite expensive for 3rd and 4th job, but suggesting sp and ap reset to be free is plain ridiculous. If you want to have high HP and to fix your skill point distributions, you should pay the price if it matters much to you.

The only reasonable suggestion you can make is to lower the prices of sp resets as it is really illogical for reset scrolls to be free. Well, technically it is free since you can vote for nx daily...

I don't understand how lowering prices of AP is funny to you, you can say its a luxury, sure in a way it can be but it gives other players added benefits over others who don't hp wash which isn't nostalgia at all. Players who are able to tank bosses because they had the money to wash have an immediate advantage over players who cant take that same amount of damage thus making Nx a sort of pay to win experience that in my head is not nostalgia. Giving players the opportunity to boss before others gives you an immediate advantage because you can easily earn alot of money from bossing. A price reduction wouldn't be a problem for Ap resets people will sink mesos into them just provided the added benefit of being able to have more resets. If you look for example at teleport rocks, you can make more mesos by selling those than you can from resets because you can buy them in a bulk bundle. Its just an added benefit that you can purchase more for a decent pricetag, either way people still pay alot for washing due to the fact that int gear is so expensive I don't have a problem with washing being a luxury but at least lower the price of resets so alot more people can have that benefit of being able to wash it deters so many new players because you mention it and they learn about it and it makes people feel like they have invested so much time into a character that isn't as good as others. Lowering the price is still a luxury you are still paying more for a character then someone who doesn't wash it just makes it so more people can wash more easily and easier for people to reset stats that they don't want stats in. Not to mention luxury creates a gap between the player base and only the rich get richer and thrive from things like that because its also a benefit.

All the bosses have been overdone already, you missed your opportunity the moment new end game content reached past 6 months.

HP washing is completely a luxury. You don't HAVE to do it. No character HAS to wash. My main character is a lv 19x shadower. It was my first character and I didn't wash it once. Not even one time. No class is required to wash to boss. You will eventually have enough HP to take damage from bosses (with HB). All washing does is make it easier & more comfortable to play your character or boss earlier, but it is absolutely not required. If a player wants to wash, they can feel free to. It requires a lot of work and a lot of meso/NX, but that is his or her own choice. The game is already free to play, and at least you don't need to pay real life money to be able to HP wash your character in some nerd ass game. Even if we're talking about AP Resets being used for stat correction, let's just say, anyone can do some research on the internets and find out where to put points into. In your example though, 60 base DEX on a warrior is not that high at all. By the time you get to the level where you want to start resetting DEX, the meso to buy the resets will be no problem for you anyway. As for SP Resets, I can say the same thing. You can look up guides on the internet (ON THE FORUM) and find out which skills to put points into, unless you are Dimi and use a wrong guide. Honestly, if you mess up, that's on you and you can't really complain that you have to reset your points. In my opinion, a lot of 3rd/4th job skill builds are kind of up to the player and can vary, so unless a player royally fucks up (which would be his or her own fault), then there isn't really a need to buy those & they can just wait to level up more to "fix" their skills. 1st and 2nd job skills are important to set correctly but those are actually not that expensive and it's REALLY easy and more effective to just remake your character if it's not above level 60.

Even if it wasn't just a luxury.

You can't make a change like that after people have spent billions upon billions on resets already. Everyone who has ever HP washed a character would be outraged.

The only way this kind of change could ever be made is if it's coupled with a wipe, which will not happen.

Actually having advantages over other players has always been a part of Maplestory. Thats what motivated people into becoming better at the game. Who else remembers Tiger? That guy had every advantage and what player didnt strive to be him. If everyone was at the same level no matter how long they played new or old, the server would die off faster than the hype for No Man Sky did.

Things like AP resets keep players playing to get stronger.

As a matter of fact, im of the opinion that AP resets should cost MORE nx. I think its way to easy to HP wash now adays. With everyone being HP washed, its made bossing significantly easier and less fun as HP washing erased any difficulty the bossing had since everyone has way more than enough HP to survive most bosses. More NX spent on Resets=Less spent on Gach, and thats a good thing IMO.

Why kill a stable currency. Plus players being ahead of other peoples isnt just restricted to maplestory, its apart of most games. Why should you get ap resets cheaper now when players in the past have worked hard to get the stats they have now.

    You sound a little entitled.

I can understand the frustration from your point of view but if you mess up your ap/sp build it's no one's fault but yours so you're gonna have to pay the price. You don't go into this game blind and wing everything, you want to do a little planning to prevent these kind of things from happening. If ap resets were free then everybody here would be running around with 30k hp/mp and what's the fun in that?

You're still a relatively new player, give the game more time and you'll come to realize the prices aren't are absurd as you think they are right now.

I disagree with what you said about “immediate advantage” because behind the glamorous HP-washed characters that you see is actually time and effort invested that may not have been apparent to you as a new player. Nothing actually is immediate in this game since everyone would have started off unfunded (unless in rare circumstances). People work for what they want and reap the fruits of their labour, which to me was the core of Pre-BB Maplestory and part of the nostalgia that you talked about. There wouldn’t be that same sense of accomplishment if things came too easily, isn’t it?

A common piece of advice for newcomers like yourself would be to start off with a magician class and get decently funded before embarking on an attacker class. Alternatively, diving right into an attacking class (like what I did) is also fine but would definitely require additional effort on your part.
