What builds do you have at the moment? What are you playing on?

My current desktop system is as follows...

    CPU : AMD FX-6300 - OC'd to 4.615 GHz @ 1.416V
CPU Cooler: CM Hyper 212 EVO with custom push-pull fans
    Motherboard : Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0
    RAM : DDR3 - 1866 16GB (4 x 4GB)
    GPU : MSI 7870 GHz Edition 2GB x 2 (crossfire) - OC'd to 1.20GHz/1.40Ghz Ram
    HDD1 : Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB 2.5" SSD
HDD2 : 1TB Seagate (My server has 8 TB of networked storage, so this is just for installs and projects i'm working on, etc.)
    PSU : Corsair 750W
Case : Thermaltake Commander MS/I Snow Edition
    Case Cooling : 2x Thermaltake 120mm (70.2CFM) / 2x CM JetFlo 120mm (95.0CFM)

    Screens : 2x Acer H226HQLbid 21.5" + 1x 21.5" Vizio tv (getting the third Acer soon)
^ all set up in triple monitor for 5760 x 1080 when i'm playing high end games, and lots of screen realestate when i'm coding.

I'd call this a budget build. Certainly not top of the line parts stock, but seeing as i can overclock everything pretty well it competes with no problem. I can run almost any game at Ultra @ 5760 x 1080, And i can definitely run any game ultra at 1920 x 1080.

Why did i choose this somewhat strange combo of parts?

Gaming - 2 core cpu at 3.0ghz or better + best single graphics card possible. Way covered.

video rendering - As many core as you can get, at the highest clock you can get. Performance from adding ram levels out at about 12GB, 16GB is plenty to get max performance. The FX-6300 with overclocking was simply the most power per dollar on the market at the time. If i do more extensive video rendering I'll upgrade to the 8350.

OpenGL programming - this is why the 2x 7870. I need the power to handle advanced graphics rendering, and lighting, and shadows, and everything else when i'm trying to code things. (shhh - also great for brute force! ;])

Normal useage - SSD. Can you fully load from cold in under 16 seconds? I can. I can also load Photoshop almost instantly, try that on a spinning disk. (I prefer GIMP, but the point stands.)

    Still in the works:
Custom water cooling. I need at least $250 to do this though, and i don't really need it for anything. I've already OC'd my cpu to 5.0GHz on air, but there's no point in having it there all the time. I'm confident I could leave it at 5.5GHz on water. Graphics cards would love this though.

Well, what were your goals for the two systems? For example, what was your budget for the budget build? I'm sure i could help you squeeze more performance out of that budget!
