So with the Mac client discontinuation I've decided to use virtual box to continue playing Mapleroyals. I'm using windows 10 64 bit as my operating system and when I play mapleroyals I get god awful frame rates like 10-16 fps and zakum and HT is a lot worse to the point it's 1 - 5 fps and every 5 seconds my game would freeze but not crash, is there anyway to reduce the amount of fps lag? TLR for the lazy : bad fps when playing mapleroyals on virtual box, how improve fps
I've allocated 4098mb / 4gb of ram My video memory is 128 mb (max) 1 CPU processor, execution cap 100% One thing that kinda annoys me is that the virtual box icon in the docks is moving the same w/ the client which makes me think that might also cause the frame rate issues but I don't know.
It could actually be possible that you have allocated too many resources to the VM, so the host may be struggling to run it itself. You could try reducing the settings to see if that helps. Also I'd advise setting the VM's screen resolution to be quite small if you haven't done so, probably around 1024 x 768. Also try running MapleRoyals in both windowed mode and full screen to see if there are any differences there. Also make sure you have installed the VirtualBox Guest Additions which I think can be found under Devices > Install Guest Additions.
I use Parallels and I think 2 GB RAM is definitely more than enough if you're just using it to play MapleRoyals. You don't want to starve your host machine (macOS) of resources because it will affect the VM's performance since the VM relies on the host. I recommend following through this video to optimise your Windows 10 performance: For Mac users, nothing beats the performance and convenience of a native client. RIP.
