Notice Patch 01/01/17

I do get that players are eager to continue playing, I really do. What bugs me is that it's so important that extensions makes them act stingy and rude. Guys, suck it up. It's a video game. Well yeah, that's been said like a million times, but stop and think about it.
I'm not gonna go all "GET A LIFE", but really, sometimes it's just about waiting a couple of minutes before posting so you get a chance to settle down. If you still feel the need to post something, MAYBE it will be somewhat more constructive.

There's far worse things to get addicted to than video games, but there sure as heck is a lot that deserves your time and effort more, so just FIND SOMETHING ELSE TO KILL THE TIME. It's not like those levelups and mesos are going to provide you and your loved ones with food and it's not like you can marry a game.

Please, cool down your attitudes and act somewhat decent. It's not like they don't want this to be finished. They go by now just with powernaps and are trying as hard as they can to get this ready. How would you guys feel if you had to read stingy comments from raging twats in addition to this? No, I am not kissing their asses. I don't know either one of them.
But there's a reason the server keeps such a large number of users. They know what they're doing and what's best for their game.
Look at the post above from some guy that states he could learn coding today and still do a better job. What's the point of posting something like that? Doesn't benefint anybody. Not him, not his mother, not his father, not me or you. It's just... nothing. Posts like that are nothing but the seconds it took to wrote it.

It's allowed to think twice before you comment, and it's also allowed to not comment. Being an ass online surely can't be cool forever, even for this/these generation/generations.

Last, you are free to leave. You have the right to be unsatisfied, but you should have certain standards when it comes to expressing it. Nobody cares about you being mad when you're posting unconstructive and rage based comments. We end up with a collection of such comments , which hardly even means anything to those who wrote them.

I'm almost sure that stuff like CWKPQ and Dojo won't even be released, because it's not ready yet. Why open a server when not all the new content is working?
Imo it would kinda kill the hype if they would open a server w/o new content. It loses the suprise of the new source.
They are releasing the server early, because people keep crying and wining, because they can't play.
I mean i've been here waiting for over 2years you don't see me cry and hate on the staff members like +90% of the community is doing atm. Why would you wanna play a buggy server, so people can hate on the staff members again, because stuff isn't working properly? I'm pretty sure that's going to happen.
Just give the people from the Staff the time they need, after all they've been working on this for so long, why not wait a little week longer?

 

I do not mind waiting even if it's for another day, however, please stop giving us false hope and give us a proper approximate maintenance time. If it might take another 12 hours to complete this patch, please be honest about it, many of us are fairly understanding if it will take more time to complete the source.

About rights and obligations i know how everyone will feel and oh my, i read all those posts, the raging ones and the "calm" ones...
One thing for sure i know, those who "demand" in an abusive way, even if they have right to it, are wrong... But as long as "you" (the same abusing one) only talk to people in your computer, you probably dont know much about relationship and how you need patience to get things done in the right way...

What do i mean?
Are we all sad? Agreed.
We wanted to be playing, leveling, talking, w/a...
Dont we have rights?
Yes, we do...
The staff said something that couldnt be done?
Yes, they did...
They could be more transparent!
Yes, they could...

They have failed clearly in some points, but so do we in all our lives. I am no donor at all, i work, but my wallet is for other priorities, but i like this server as i never liked the global one. Today, when i look at maple global i dont see a fun game neither its faded imagem from 5 years ago or so... I just see a "money child machine" or something close to that... This server conquered me as i can clearly see it conquered most of you, if not, you shouldnt be complaining or arguing for something you dont really care, that would be hipocrite...

I am sorry for the bad english, but i think we can wait 5 more hours and even more... Its something so basic to understand...
Sometimes i just remember that lovely phrase "shit happens", and when it happens, what will you do? Get angry n shit, kick everything to the sky? That wont solve anything, that is what differs childs from man's and women... The way you act to a problem, the way you respect others that have problems, and the way you choose to deal with all these things that form a bigger shit called life.

It's true that we pushed ourself into a deadline we sadly did not reach, but we chose to go through with it either way.
It may not have been the best decision as shows, but we can not change the past and we'd rather focus on the future.
The release of this patch is going to be disappointing, but everything that is written on this new source code will function smoother than the old one.
We perfected the dough of this pizza, we just thought that adding the sauce and the toppings would take less time than it actually does.
We underestimated the amount of time we would need and because of that we caused quite some harm to the community.
For this we of Staff are all deeply sorry and all we can do at this point is to work our asses off to try and set it right.
The development team has been working day in day out for the last god knows how many days, and they will continue to do so until everything works.
That is the only promise we can make at this time, and we hope that the community can show some understanding for this.
We fucked up, we dun goofed, but we are all adults and we will take responsibility when we make mistakes.
If people want to leave to a different private server because of this, that is understandable and quite honestly I won't try to stop them either.
For those who want to stay, we will try our best to make this new source work flawlessly within the upcoming month.
It's going to be a tough ride, the question is whether people are willing to stick with us until the very end.

 

I may not speak for everyone when I say this, but my hype has been pretty much killed after 3 days worth of extensions.

I have doubts that anyone complaining would be upset that the source is buggy and barely playable. It would help clear out some misunderstandings about WHY we were getting these extensions. Plus I still don't see how releasing a buggy source in the meantime while they iron out the kinks is a bad thing.

Depending on what will be available (as new), it may be better to just delay it another 24h to have at least some of the new things working. 3 days is a long time to delay, but if theres no work to show for it, more ppl will get mad over that.

You have these extentions, because they thought it wouldn't take that much time to update the server, but sadly it did. The whole thing about the new source was all the new content you were getting.
Imo it's not fun to have everything released later and not all at once.

 

Im just chilling and memeing around the chat . But there is some really toxic yet funny people.
Even if everyone is not satisfied with the time you are taking, The staff is showing profesionalism and perfectionism by not releasing some shitty new source.
In my opinion you guys should be proud.

 

should have said it would take one week but finish it in like 6 days so you could be like wow guys suprise it is out NOW

idk but it is better to fix bugs and errors before it is launched, otherwise people will continue to be upset

I just wanna say first that the wait is not a big problem for me. In the past four days I've done 3 full length practice tests to study for a big test on the 20th and I've ran a total of 15 miles, so I haven't exactly been clawing at my skin waiting for this thing. What I wanna say though is--

It would make sense if you announce an extension with decent time before the estimated due time, telling us "the state of what we have isn't at our expectations, we won't be able to fix everything within the remaining half hour."

What doesn't really make sense to me is that the extensions are announced so close to the due time, especially for the one that just happened, where we were told that there (should) be no more extensions afterwards. This one was even announced a good 3ish minutes past the due time.

It reminds me of my chemistry and english professors who posts on the class page that they won't be able to finish grading the exams/papers like "oh btw i didnt/couldnt finish it be of xyz sorry they'll be up at 4:20 tomorrow" at like 11:57PM when we were told the grades would be up at 12AM which obviously got the class H E A T E D A S F U C K .

My psych professor, on the other hand, posted the notices ahead of time telling us with a decent explanation, "i was busy these few days doing xyz sorry they'll be up at 4:20 tomorrow" which would get the class bummed out as well, but he wouldn't receive feedback like "wtf this dude can eat my whole ass he's so irresponsible i was refreshing the mfin page waiting for the grades to go up man."

Other than this everything all aight though. Ima come so hard when the new source is up nohomo.

 

Though this would've been an ideal solution, despite having to make players wait even longer to be able to log in / vote etc, we appear not to be amazing at predicting how much time we need.
For this reason we believe it might be better for us to release something that's not optimal and improve this every day until we are at the stage where we want it to be.
It might take a week, it might take a month, but you'd see the server gradually improving and maybe after the first few days it could already be in an acceptable kind of state.
The project has been very stressful so far for both Staff and the playerbase, and at the moment our goal is to rapidly improve the server so players can enjoy the game again !

 

I do not believe the fact that the workload was far more than anticipated is what is making people upset. The far greater causes for unrest are the almost complete lack of proper communication throughout as well as the consistently inaccurate release information changed at the last moments. People are desperately trying to understand whatever they can about the progress of the update, but their only options are to closely monitor the shout box in the hope someone from administration will drop some clues, and by constantly refreshing the front page and this thread to find out whatever scraps of information are posted. I believe in the eyes of many, the Royals staff seemed akin to the PR department of a faceless company, making no official statements explaining the situation enough to ease the desperation of the many constantly seeking whatever they could find. Many would not have expected Royals staff to portray themselves in that way. Whatever the intentions of the staff, this is still likely how the public saw it. The other major reason would be the constant disappointments regarding extensions. It is not a matter of having to wait a few days, it is a matter of most people getting their hopes up in the belief that the wait is over, and then being disappointed severely, several times. For example, it is very unlikely the staff didn't realize they needed an enormous time extension (48 hours) until 30 minutes before the scheduled (already extended) release. Many would call it extremely unfair, as I am sure at least some people altered their real life schedules around these expectations which could have been prevented with a timely warning. People have constantly been having their expectations denied right as the deadline draws near. Furthermore, absolutely no patch notes have been released despite constant promises. People are starved for any information and keep expecting to be given that information after very long waiting periods, only to have it taken away time and time again.

The Royals staff may not be in the wrong for underestimating the time needed for the patch, or they may be. It really doesn't matter. It is still a server run by that staff and they can do whatever they want with it, whether it be the right or wrong choice. I only want to illustrate the reason I believe most of the frustration exists, and ultimately it all stems from very poor communication relative to the expectations of the general playerbase, despite what the staff themselves intended. I know it is mostly pointless to analyze the potential mistakes made, but perhaps in doing so it can improve the staff's understanding and/or handling of similar situations in the future, should they ever arise.

 

Then you shouldn't have made the latest announcement about the patch in the first place. Almost 2 years ago you announced the source would only be released if basically the game was properly playable. We just got informed that it isn't. In fact, the new source should be up within the next 5 hours in order to replace the forum and shoutbox so people can socialize. What kind of replacement is that for the game though? Why not just have the V62 source running meanwhile? It could've been up all this time.

First off, the fact that the staff is aware that the new source will be a disappointment seems very promising. Second, you have probably 1500 people spamming in the shoutbox after being disappointed. Yet you dare to make such a goofy response, trying to lighten up the mood like nothing happened? You just wasted most of those people's time, which they've put aside in real life. Not once. Not twice. I don't even care to count anymore. Several days. Several delays.

I would also like to point out that it's not about leaving this private server. It's general knowledge that this server is the best by far. Everyone cares for the server. I care for the server. My point with these posts is to make it very clear, that this isn't the first time the staff has handled things this poorly. In my honest opinion, you should never have announced the new source at all and you should've kept everything a secret and worked behind the scenes until everything was actually ready and tested properly.

Last but not least, while I do appreciate the fact that you took your time to directly respond to me after a somewhat (almost) hateful post by me, I was expecting more of a public apology, for the players. For taking away their valuable time. Make an announcement on the frontpage. Inform us of what is going on exactly and why. Communicate!
