Update New Source Update #2 07/01/17

I love the new sauce though, dont get me wrong

 

This is bad. I predicted this will all happen, all of these bugs and crashes. Given the fact that implementing a "new source", mostly just updating the server's version and having some custom changes took (and still is taking) so much time, made me easily realise it's going to be so bad.
You can see how other big (or even less than big) servers handle updating their database, version or whatever they want to pretty easily using their professional coders. But here, on this server, it took more than a year (maybe even two? can't remember) to announce about a "final" date of the change of the source and version of the server with some custom changes.
Taking so much time to do such easy tasks, yes, easy, shows how unprofessional the coding/developing server's staff are.
This task shouldn't have taken more than 1 month, probably a few weeks, but it took more than a year (or two).

Very amateur. You'd expect from a server on such scale to be professional about this matter and either hire a better developing team or to prepare better.

I guess its a good thing that your base damage for the skill you spam got a bigger buff then the intellect loss here.

 

Mind linking to us some screenshots of any software coding you've done recently? How about programs you might have written, Or if you've taken any advanced programming classes or database migrations that would put your expertise above that of the Admins. Or even specifically, have you gone about writing a completely new program from the ground up and had to move over certain pieces of databases and maps from a decade old program thats written in a completely different set of coding. I'm curious to see.

Those other servers you're refering to didnt rewrite an entire new source code for their servers. They took whatever Nexon written Maplestory version they had laying around and made their own changes to it and used that for their servers. Still has the same broken bugs, and crap stability as it did when it was the current version of the game.

 

You can't argue against the fact that this was poorly handled. In fact there's another private server running on a v62 client with basically all the changes that were supposed to be implemented in this new source, while only being up and running for less than a year. It's in a sense a copycat of this server but their execution seems to have been much better so far. I won't name it here but you can go search it up if you'd like.

In response to your edit: I haven't personally played it or any other server, so I wouldn't know, but the fact of the matter is we don't have a working new source right now. Of course I appreciate that the staff here is working hard to provide us with a better experience, but I'm disappointed in the execution.

 

I'm not arguing against it. But I understand why its gone to hell, and im not of the mind to be apart of the angry mob of people who want to shit talk the people who already know they've messed up and are working night and day to fix the issues.

Royals has always done good by us, and I wish people would remember that. If it takes a month then so be it IMO. The whole point of this New Source is for a better future for Royals. Thats the most important thing in the end.

 

The mob is fickle. Any figure in the public eye could have 100% success rate going into anything, screw up, and have people asking for their head. Especially in the information era.

 

First of all, I don't have to show any proof of me being a successful coder because I've never stated to be one.
In life, there are things you can (and should) criticise even if you're not specialised in them, and this case is one of them.
The whole update was handled poorly, just as I've already stated and @liomo gave some nice facts to strengthen the critisism as valid.

You're wrong.
The "new source" for Royals is not a "new" one, because if it were it wouldn't have been maplestory. No one is rewriting the whole source from scratch, making "an entire new source". They do the same as other servers, they do take whatever Nexon written Maplestory version they want (v72/v83 in this case), they fix the bugs those versions already have, they add their custom changes and that is it. No one is writing "an entirely new source". If they were, it couldn't have been maplestory.

Get over it. I'm giving my own true feedback which is completely objective and not subjective like yours.
I never said I don't appreciate the hard work of the staff, in fact I do, a lot.
But, as I said, this whole matter was handled poorly. Very poorly. It all could've been handled in a much more professional way respecting this large server.

Critisism and review is necessary in life in order to improve, something you haven't learnt yet.

 

I think you're a bit confused, people do code servers from scratch. Here is an example on ragezone.

 

You should read up with Criticism is then. Your response was neither "criticism" or "feedback". It was opinions and complaining from a position of complete ignorance.

Ah I'm kinda done "debating" with you. You're one of those arrogant kids who think they're always right and try to lick some people off on the way of doing that. You just won't admit you were wrong, and that's pathetic in my opinion. When I find myself or others prove me wrong, I have no problem at all saying sorry and admitting I was.

They do write the whole server code... they leech wz file and client nothing else
