    Hello!

I'm a mac user and recently installed Windows 7 (64 bits) on VirtualBox.

After a few bugs, I was finally able to download royals, but I'm having trouble launching the game and get the Error Code written in the title.

As stated in this thread: https://royals.ms/forum/threads/common-v83-client-errors-fixes.87492/ , I tried disabling my antivirus (avast), and I tried updating my driver (I'm not very good with computers, I didn't know what that means but I tried something following that website if it can help: https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/how-to-manually-install-a-driver-in-windows-7/). Every program is closed when I try to run the game.

Also, I tried restarting windows and reinstalling the game, didn't work.

I also tried solutions given for other error codes: Run in compatibility mode for windows 7 and running setup.exe, but none of those worked either.

Anyone knows what I should do next? ^.^'' Make sure to be specific because I'm not an expert with that kind of stuff LOL

If anyone finds a working solution I'll send him/her millions of imaginary kisses mouhahaha :D

I'm a Windows 10 user having the same problem. Your issue is probably because MapleRoyals no longer supports Macs. You could probably get past that by using VirtualBox, though.

Actually my Windows 7 is installed on my mac via VirtualBox, as written above! Do you think my issue would still be because I have a mac? Even if I'm using VirtualBox? :)

Just in case it helps, I'm putting up these screenshots, the first one shows the error code (by the way, it happens right after I double-click the shortcut, not any MapleRoyals window appear before) and the other ones shows my royals files, maybe the bug is somewhere in there ^.^

    Thank you in advance!

I use Windows XP with VirtualBox on my Mac and haven't had issues. I couldn't get around this error on a Windows 7 VM no matter what I tried :(

I see! I'll try to download one more time MapleRoyals while avast is disabled, we'll see how it goes...

Next time I'll try XP I guess... Since it isn't supported by Windows anymore I'm a little uncomfortable using it, especially since I must use internet on it (kinda afraid of hackers and such hahahaha). But yeah I guess I'll use it as a last resort ;)

    Thank you for your reply!

Didn't work :/ In a few days I'll try another version of Windows. I'll wait just in case someone finds the problem ^.^ (and also because my internet isn't unlimited so yeah I'm trying not to download too much LOL)

    Hello again!

I got Windows XP instead of Windows 7 on VirtualBox, and I get the same error message sadly when I try to run the game :(

I'm kind of running out of ideas here LOL any help would be greatly appreciated <3

Did you try to completely remove the compatibility mode?

Thank you Sila for your answer <3

If you mean having the box unchecked for compatibility mode in properties, then yes. I also tried every mode available, and I still get the same message :/ It's kinda weird really haha ppl before me seem to have resolved this issue by downloading windows XP, which didn't work in my case.

    Google says:
Most common cause - graphics drivers or directx are out of date. Download links for major manuafacters of graphics cards and for directx can be found on the download page.

Less common cause - corruption of game files, sometimes caused by over zealous virus scanners during install. May require a reinstall or redownload and reinstall.

So... Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date (if you're using vmware, I'm not sure what that entails), make sure there's no antivirus running while you install.

Try installing Microsoft Framework 3.5 (someone suggested that)

    Another suggestion:
. Go to Control Panel > Display > Settings - Hit Advanced > Troubleshoot

make sure hardware acceleration is at max.

Okay so I tried everything on the list (including verifying again if my directx is up to date), except the graphics driver. It's still not working, so I guess the problem is with the graphics driver.

I'll try to figure out how it works on VirtualBox. If I find anything I'll be sure to let everyone know in case someone else has the same issue!

Okay so my video memory setting on virtual box (under settings - display) was very low and I increased it. From what I can find on google VirtualBox supports up to 256 mb for video... And on forums here a lot of ppl use 512 mb. With the setting at 256 royals still won't launch LOL I'll continue my research.

I still wrote what I found so far here in case it would help some ppl at this point ^.^

I am writing a guide tonight for mac users on how to get virtualbox working with royals/ how to optimize virtualbox/bootcamp. Guide should be posted within the next 24 hours.

I've read and followed your guide, which is awesome, thank you ^.^ I've now got windows 10 on VirtualBox.

I saw your answer on your other post, good luck on your ethics paper, and no stress about the time and such, I'm not in a hurry and you're already so kind to help me ^.^

Sadly, Royals won't launch but this time I'm not getting the same error message. Now it's:
"error code: -2147221008" (CoInitialize has not been called.)

I've tick "Read only" in the properties and tried every compatiblity mode. Tried to run Setup.exe. My antivirus and my firewall are both turned off.

I think the error I'm now getting is kinda rare, only found two posts in the forum about it. In one, John suggested a file was corrupted and that I should reinstall, which I did (and also redownload + reinstall) and it didn't work.

Either I'm very unlucky or I suck very bad at this LOL (but I can't think of anything I did wrong, I followed every step all the time and always searched in the forum for my answers and tried everything that was suggested hahahaha).

Is there anyone who encountered the same issue? ^.^''

LOL tried to run setup.exe again and now it's back to the same error code as in windows 7 and xp when I try to launch royals (unspecified error) ^.^"

The next step will probably be trying out windows 8 :) I'll just wait a while since I don't want to use too much internet. So if anyone has the solution for the error it could save me a few more GB :D

Stay with Windows 10. The coinitialize error is normal (since you're using virtual box). Just keep spamming open client, sometimes it takes thirty tries but it always opens for me, it's just a matter of time. (I only encountered this problem on VB) On bootcamp it opens first and second try usually.

All right maybe I didn't spam enough! I'll try that. I hope it'll work, but the unspecified error thing appeared again lel (the first error I had in the other versions). I'll try spamming for a while and we will see :D
