A lot of people are currently playing or not playing the game as they miss their core skills. Taking this long to add the core skills to players is actually quite sad. If i am not mistaken it does not take a huge effort to find the skill id and manually add it to character. GM's (here meaning the people who actually are able to add the skills before some Game Master feels obligated to tell how he/she is not able to do anything) should really add the skills to characters to have some more content to keep players playing still. Also on saturdays patch #15 there was a clear statement that the skills will be added within few days. Browsing the forums it seems noone has yet to had their skills added to them, so is there a some kind of delay on adding the skills we are not informed or was the few days timeframe just a blatant lie? Sincerely, one without core for 1month
I feel you. I honestly can't train my chief bandit who maxed ME and doing dogcrap damage with other skills while most of other classes have no trouble grinding.
I think because the game is in such disarray they need to focus on fixing the game before attending to individual character needs. Purely theoretical.
It tok em 2-3 patches to fix HS and another 2-3 patches for door alone, I have seen GM's in shoutbox saying that they bugtest a lot on their testing client. In my opinion we the community should get access to the bug testing client, this might be a bad idea tho considering how much time it will take to setup the bugtesting server to be accessible for all of us. It seems to me they are consistently rolling out patches with out bugtesting them at all, every time you a patch that says it fixes X skill it will take another if not more patches to fix X skill. Spoiler: Plot twist When I think about it maybe the live server is there bugtesting client, makes more sense when you think about it. Must be frustrating to not have your core skills working, I wish I could say it would be Soon™ fixed. I suggest finding something else to do for a while.
Moved thread to Feedback. We have done some skills, however it's quite time consuming as we need to check the quest progress of each player to then determine which mastery level their skill should be at. Once we've worked our way through the list then I'm sure we will then update the threads. I hope that helps.
Most of if not all of the skills should have a mastery level of 10, maybe just add level 10 mastery to everyone and ask them to create a character issue thread if the given skill level was not correct. Any way of rolling some of the responsibility to the community would be a good idea in my opinion. As everyone who still is playing seriously enjoys the server. So i would think all of us would be willing to help in any way we can. Figuring a way to roll some responsibility to community would not only lighten your workload, but it would also give us something to do.
That is how we thought we were going to do it initially, but realised it would leave a mess of characters with incorrect mastery levels, and likely lead to confusion and further anger from players. There are also a large amount of players that have not realised that they are missing correct mastery levels and are yet to make threads, so we want to get everyone's skills fixed properly in one fell swoop. Additionally, I've had a quick look at your character issues thread and noticed it is in regards to Bahamut, which I believe we have already sorted if you want to check your character.
Yes bahamuth on my bishop seems to be fixed, thank you. And i do see your point of how just adding skills as level 10 would anger some people, but i think that we have been through already so much as a community with this patch that just giving players a chance to help would have been the correct call. I'll try and level my bahamuth skills again currently max level of 15 and report here if it now works correctly. Lastly the skills im mostly bummed about are battleship cannon and battleship torpedo which my now lvl136 sair has never had, so speeding up getting those core skills for pirates should be very high on the priority list.
Was there an announcement about this change of plan? If this thread wasn't made a lot of us would've been left in the dust, thinking that our skills would be manually reset eventually, when in reality they aren't?
I was now able to level bahamuths mastery level from 15 to 20, skill quest worked as it should. Tough was not able to use Dragon Hearts i had farmed up before (the quest items needed to level the skill) after dropping the old quest items and collecting new ones seems to be working just fine
I'm sorry but I don't know what you mean by this. But like I mentioned in my first post in this thread; We are fixing the skills and mastery levels and we will update any character issue threads once we've completed the work.
My apologies, consider me illiterate. For some reason I interpreted your post as "We will not be fixing 4th job skills with incorrect mastery levels", which is definitely not the case.
Spoiler: Matt said Spoiler: Kevin said Fixed multiple issues that caused skill quests and skill books to incorrectly assign mastery levels of 0 or not reward a skill at all. We'll manually fix any skills that were not rewarded correctly over the next few days. [4 days ago] If you've lost a skill book that would have otherwise given you a skill, create a thread in the Character Issues subforum to get your skill book refunded. Would it be possible to go in and quickly fix all of the skills that should come with 4th job, setting them to lvl 10 instead of 0? (things like boomerang step, brandish, sharp eyes, etc.) This should be easy relative to other skills, simply because you don't have to check quest progress. After all, Kevin's post definitely gave the idea that these would be handled on a case-by-case basis over the past few days, anyways. You may have observed me complaining about this once or twice (sorry!) but dang its hard to motivate myself training a hero without its core ability, brandish. Some of my other buddies are seeing the same problem with similar skills. It appears that a large percentage of the current active population is early 4th job characters that are missing very important skills due to the mastery hiccup, so I could see doing this manually as viable as at least a temporary fix, which I don't think I am exaggerating when I say we're begging for it to be fixed ASAP. This being said, I can see why you would like to do it all in one fell swoop. It's just that playing the waiting game has slowly been rotting away my soul, and I believe a patch-up job should be reexamined as a temporary resolution to mend this soul-rotting.
Setting the mastery level to 10 doesn't make it so that you can actually add points to the skill. Or at least, it didn't fix it for meteor shower the first time. So it might be more work than just setting the mastery level to 10.
Spoiler: Futak said I was not aware. That changes things. Sorry @Matt it appears I was incorrect. Edit: on second thought, is that not the same problem that they fixed last week with abilities like rush? Either way I'm sure I don't have all the facts.
That's pretty much what we are doing for that issue, although it is slightly more complex than you have assumed in your post.
