What would you suggest? Every mmo has had similar issues, unless it has unlimited instances (like the mini dungeon implementation in maple), which brings its own set of downsides.

There are many ways to do that. Maybe even making it impossible to kill creatures in maps (or parts of bigger maps) when someone has the spot. I'm not entirely sure how something like this would be implemented, but it's better than nothing.

It just isn't worth it in my opinion. People need to learn to not be jerks and they need to learn that there are other training spots available.

This exact same problem existed in GMS. People just had to train in other spots and not take this silly game so seriously.

IMHO Maple would've been much better if all those small, barely worth it things were implemented correctly. That's why you have unpopular MMOs, good MMOs and dying MMOs.

Ok, so that link suggests sharing experience out: maplestory does that. Sharing drops: not really an issue except for bosses, and that's not the purview of this thread. Locking monsters to attacking players: kind of useful, but ksers would still "lock monsters" as well, resulting in both players getting less than optimal exp, as they do now.

All of this seems stupid in the first place, and opens possible avenues of abuse. Perhaps maplestory's training system could have been made different from the get go, but as it is it's unique and very hard to make it "fair". Every implementation in that link solves no more issues than it creates.

It's pretty simple, if you want a certain map:
Stay in that map while not attacking mobs, and wait for the guy to leave, if a new guy enters and the previous guy leaves, it is still "your map" since you were there first.
    So there you go.

    When in doubt, use !mapowner.

So, if you're planning on scamming game masters, think again!

To me, selling maps is just inviting trouble. It's like a huge pink neon sign announcing: "Hi, I don't need this map for training anymore". Any trouble you incur through buying or selling a map is entirely your own fault, don't expect us to deal with it.

I realise that this probably sounds a bit harsh, but maps are there for grinding/farming on. If you want to use them for something other than their intended purpose, do so at your own risk.

Hey man. Just wait on the map until a buyer comes. once the buyer comes, the two will trade. during this period no one will be using the map. so you start using the map. when they are back they can no longer use the map because you are using it.

if they start ksing u, report them for ks. and they are banned.

Who was the little f**k who came up with this sh*t? I'm sorry if I sound rude, but this has absolutely no sense at all. Ugh. The things people would do for money.

Good point, actually; the more rules and restrictions there are, the less attractive the server will be, at one point: That point is reached when superfluous things are made bannable, like this. Deal with this problem yourself at your own risk, as Kat said. I honestly see no reason to make this a bannable offence...

Is selling maps sounds wrong to me? yes , defentley.
But making it bannable? that's just too much..
As for now the only solutions I see atm is either increase the channel number or wait until someone leave the map.
Personaly I never had this kind of problem even last couple of days, I just check all the channels and ask very nicely if the person is about to leave the map anytime soon and usually I find a map like this.

Making this bannable is just laughable. Although i consider selling a spot a very Dick move. If i see some1 doing it i just put him/her on my personal Blacklist, No leeches, no help, nothing. :)
But ban him for it? Please people...

A simple solution would be to reduce the spawn rates of the GS2 map. That way, other spots will be just as attractive as the GS2 map for training. ~f17

Anyway, on topic, I am neutral on this matter but I would not like spot selling to be made an offence. Such trivial issues can be solved by players themselves and not require a GM.

The server population will also likely shrink after summer, making training spots such as GS2 less crowded again.

TBH i really don't have a problem with people selling maps, but the fact that no ksing rule exist is just lame and i mean LAME. Like GM Daniel, nobody owns the map, and its a fair game. Why is it that a map become some1's when they been there killing for a period amount time? It's almost saying that you own the house because you rent for 3 months.

If you rent a house for 3 months, that house is yours for 3 months... :|.
