I noticed someone posted something similar about the Windows Client having a virus, but the poster was assured there wasn't. But my antivirus software (Norton Internet security) specifically identified it as "Trojan Gen Virus." Which was the application file. I've gotten the game to work, and the application file seems to work (Although my security keeps deleting it after I log out.), but why would it recognize it as a specific virus if it was safe? http://imgur.com/mwNHC8x
You posted the wrong link, but regardless, I can assure you it is a false positive, which essentially means it was falsely detected. As to why it labels it as a specific virus, what an antivirus does is it recognizes code similar in a virus to detect a virus. However, it is always possible to have code similar to a virus sometimes. In this case, it is detected as a virus since "Themida" (a packer that Nexon uses to protect MapleStory) was unpacked in order to make the MapleRoyals client.
Alright, thanks for the reassurance, plus I finally got my antivirus to trust the file so I'm all good.
