Hey, I'm super excited to play this game because of the new v83 features like Mu Lung Dojo once registration is open, but is it possible if you guys could also add the class helmets to the new source if it's possible? like these ones:
Items you are talking about: Andras Hat : 01003031 Marbas Hat : 01003032 Valefor Hat : 01003033 Amdusias Hat : 01003034 Crocell Hat : 01003035 It is a good idea to implement these items, however 2 issues must be addressed. The stats they give must be reduced because they gave too high of stats to be balanced in MapleRoyals New Source. The attainability should be harder, this quest was rather easy to complete and in return you got a very good hat for it. If stats remain relatively high, difficulty should be increased and vice versa.
They were already previously removed from the v0.83 files during the transition. This was because of the reasons Seductive Love has mentioned and also that we did not plan to bring anything from v0.83 into the game apart from Mu Lung Dojo and CWKPQ. So you will need to provide a more convincing argument for them to be added to the game.
If need to, then i would perhaps see it as an event item...something similar to completing X times and getting a random item from a pool of it, which contains the 4 items. But still, I personally don't support more additional helmets...as seen in why Scarlion and Targa wasn't introduced.
Considering what Seductive Love said i'd say it's a really nice idea for the server to have this as long as you customize the way u get it. Yeah, i know the staff wants to keep the server as much as nostalgic as possible, but this could be a nice incentive for new players to do some actual questing. We all know that in Royals you just grind and do bosses over and over because only a few quests are actually rewarding. ( Except @Sila ) I personally had a lot of fun doing Alcaster, even when it wasn't difficult the storyline was good. Plus the reward was completly worth it. Now, in this particular case you should consider that the server will get a new generation of players which will be hyped to play, this might be a great incentive and i don't see why it would harm the balance at high levels. Plus, Zak helm will still be the dominating helm in the server not only because of stats but because of HP washing. So, i'll say it's worth a look. I could help write a story for the questline if ur willing to. Yeah, i know coding a complete questline it's even more work for you guys, but it's still a great option rather than just miss every aligator at KPQ.
Just an opinion among thousands: I don't want new stuff from new versions. I want vanilla V0.62. The new source is unique in the sense it doesn't break that nostalgia from the good old days. I heard belts have been implemented, I can live with that as it isn't really game changing. Stuff like those helmets are game changing though and frankly, if we keep "customizing" v0.62... well it isn't v0.62 anymore.. Again, just an opinion, no need to throw me in the pit of hell !
I don't mean to offend anyone or anything but the main story line quests for each city with the job instructor (like perion for warrior) pretty much end at level 14 after the basic training then its just party quests even though its not v62 now that you guys have access to the v83 stuff why not take advantage to certain aspects of it like these helmets and back in 2009 when i played gms i don't really remember it being easy to get this hat, infact i worked so hard trying to find the dungeon and it truly was one of the most nostalgiac feelings for me (it may not be the same for everyone but it gave me something to look forward too and it gave each class a sense of uniqueness and symbolism). I agree the stats should be balanced and the harder the quests are to get it the better tbh. Its just another reason for new players to be excited and continue playing the game I don't see why not xD
I like the helmets and I'm always for anything that requires a quest chain to get something valuable. However I agree that 12 stat for a low level hat is too good - I'd be more on par with lowering it to 6 stat or so. I think the quests are creative and fun, and it doesn't break the 'nostalgia' at all - which I still think is an irrelevant argument all things considering. The main factor IMO of whether something should or should not be added is how well it balances with the community already established. A 6 stat hat for under level 30s would be a great addition to the game, and since the quest line is rather long it would balance that out. If you're lucky, you could get a good bandana that's those stats from gacha, so it still lines up with what we have available. Consider also that we give out a Pilgrim hat at level 30 which is 10 stat 1 att 1 magic att for lvl 30 and up for Thanksgiving event. Making this hat a little less 'worth it', which gives value to the Pilgrim hat (aside from high level attackers chaosing it)
