Any chance for future updates to include an option to download individual files that were worked on - I remember this was option in the past where downloading and replacing individual mob.wz or map.wz would suffice as an update - or even a patcher. This would beat the hassle of re-downloading an entire 1.6gb and then installing it every few weeks/months or in the case of the new update - day
If I select all the wz files that were changed with this patch and check their size, combined they are 2.18 gb. I think it wouldn't have helped anyone if we put up the individual file downloads for this patch.
What do you base that assumption off of? Like how do you know it could compress at a 5:1 ratio and not a 20:1 or 2:1?
higher end archivers are able to achieve 5:1. Winrar I believe is 3:1 (or 30% less of original file).
It has nothing to do with programs and everything to do with the actual data itself. Some stuff is easily compressible whereas other formats aren't as easily compressed. I just don't want erroneous assumptions to be made (don't mean to derail this thread just want accurate statements here )
I personally have been through many private servers and ones with setups are the most user friendly out there. Many people to this day, still don't know how to un-zip files and have trouble doing so. Just personal opinion, even if you have to redowbload every time, it is still worth it. Mainly because we only have to download the game a few times every month at most. All personal preference I guess, but I just find it so easy to hit download, open, continue, finish. The end
Check out the new Pied Piper app. They just hit a 3.5 Weizman score at the recent Tech Crunch Disrupt convention. Compression ratios are off the chart.
