While logged in today, I had been afk for about 20 mins. When I got back to my computer, MapleRoyals had seemingly crashed on me. I wasn't just sent back to the login screen with a "Unable to connect to the server" message. No, my entire MapleRoyals program had been shut down. There was no error message or anything. It was as though I had never started up MapleRoyals to begin with. The rest of the programs on my computer were working as usual, it was just MapleRoyals that was gone. I click the MapleRoyals shortcut on my desktop. You know, the button I always press to play MapleRoyals. "The item 'MapleRoyals' that this shortcut refers to seems to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly. Do you want to delete this shortcut?" Okay, WHAT? I dig around in my Program Files (x86). I located the MapleRoyals folder, and lo and behold, the MapleRoyals application is missing. There's the data files and the Setup and everything you need for MapleRoyals, except the startup button. In short, my MapleRoyals application closed down and removed itself in the 20 mins that I had been afk. I was super confused, so I uninstalled it and tried reinstalling MapleRoyals. "An error occurred while trying to rename a file in the destination directory: MoveFile failed; code 5 Access is denied" Google says it's my antivirus. So I turn off my antivirus. "An error occurred while trying to rename a file in the destination directory: MoveFile failed; code 5 Access is denied" Google lied to me. So anyway, I have no clue what to do now. Somehow, when I had been away from my computer, my MapleRoyals files managed to get themselves messed up. 1. How the heck did that happen? 2. How can I fix this? I was literally just sitting in Free Market chilling. I don't think it's a virus or anything, cause I'm particularly paranoid and picky about those things. Any help would be very much appreciated.
I may be wrong but it could have been your antivirus. Depending on what you have, some anti viruses automatically turn back on after being turned off. If this happened it would have most likely removed the client from the folder. To avoid this you can add an exclusion for the Mapleroyals folder and the client itself, this should stop it from being uninstalled. If you have windows 10 and maybe 8, you might have to do the same with windows defender. Hope this helps and you get yo play soon.
I have Windows 7, and my Windows Defender is never on. I use Avira Anti-virus, and so I tried adding MapleRoyals to its list of exceptions. I did this by creating an entire folder that was excluded from it's System Scanners, and then I set up MapleRoyals within the excluded folder. On top of that, I switched off my anti-virus as I was installing MapleRoyals. The set-up went smoothly. I could play MapleRoyals again! Less than two weeks later, I come back from dinner to realise that my MapleRoyals shortcut stopped working on me again. I uninstall, and then I repeat the exact same steps I took to get it working again. Strangely enough, it didn't fix the problem this time. I do think that the problem may lie somewhere with my anti-virus, since fiddling around with it last time got it working again. However, I am highly confused by the fact I am still unable to reinstall MapleRoyals despite applying the very same steps as I had last time, especially since it had worked the first time round, but not this time. Additionally, I have no clue why my MapleRoyals client deleted itself randomly although MapleRoyals had been running perfectly fine for the past 1 week. (like, if it was a problem with my anti-virus, why would problems only pop up more than 1 week later? especially since my antivirus has been running throughout, and there has been no recent changes to it that may have caused unexpected problems) In short, 1. I fixed the problem 2. The problem cropped up again 3. My previous fix does not work 4. ???
So.........did you ever figure out the solution to this problem because I am currently running into the same problem.
