As some people may know or will now know exp coupons given as compensation due to the 3 day-roll back that had happened last week are only available till 6/30. In my opinion a ten day limit is complete non-sense for a few examples I will describe below. Also too add I believe the compensation is more than fair enough. We are being rewarded for everything lost during those 3 days, some lost more than others and some lost nothing at all many people complained and many people were happy for getting something for free after not playing for those days. The point is that when you look behind all that we didn't just loose out on 3 days, everyone who has been loyal too this server has lost a lot more than that. Now most of you will say that it is unrelated because it is and I really don't care how you feel about it because I feel as though its important, but when you look at it we all lost Months of time. What exactly do I mean about this? Well the state of the server in the past months. I will Quote Matt here after the new source was implemented, "Important features that currently won't work that we plan on implementing rapidly and steadily over the coming days: Zakum/Horntail/Krexel Some skills Buddy List Gachapon Cash Shop Trading Storage Scrolling Hired Merchants / Regular Stores Character Creation Character Deletion" Now when you look at it we can go over most of the things here Horntail isn't working only the pq, Zakum and Krex took almost till march (feb21st to be more exact) too fix one of the few ways for anyone who is an attacker too lvl in turn taking away all that time we could have spent doing these gaining exp and obtaining drops. Skills were fixed fairly quick but these problems still persist (aka Bullseye, mesos exp.) which is a huge part of how fast people can train with these classes. The last one I would like to cover is Character creation and deletion because that was the most recent thing added that also detered people from playing for months, MONTHS of people unable to create a new character MONTHS of time lost. Most of these "Important features" Took MONTHS too work and some still don't, how long did we have to deal with d/c issues Costing us time and money where we were unable to get a rewarp? Look behind the fact of the 3 day rollback and see exactly how much time you really lost because of this. Now this isn't completely about the state of the server because clearly it is fine Im not bashing the Gm's because I know they work hard especially because Kevin is the only one coding. You all have real life problems to take care of which is understandable, Most of us have stuck with the server even through these hard times. The compensation is great and we appreciate it and all the hard work everyone one of the staff members puts into the server. But Im looking past the 3 day rollback and how much time I and many others actually lost and being able to use these coupons when you want is much more fair in my opinion that a crappy 10 day limit.
I don't see the point with how long the server used to fixed things and extending the period of using the 2x coupons. You are using those things just to extend timeline to use the 2x. If the rollback didn't actually happen, I doubt that all these things matters to you. They could have just gave 3 days worth of 2x right after the rollback. But they wanted to compensate everyone in a nice way.
The 2x is compensation for the rollback only. There is no compensation for anything else. None. The state of the server is completely irrelevant to the 2x compensation that we are giving. Now, for some numbers to why I think that the time limit is perfectly fine: If you played an average of 8 hours each day for those 3 days that were rolled back, you lost 24 hours of gameplay. Yet, we're refunding a full 72 hours maximum possible which is 3 times the amount that the average person has lost. Not only that, but you have 10 days to use up those 72 hours. 10 days is 240 hours. 72 out of those 240 hours isn't all that difficult even if you have other obligations.
These coupons are not serving as compensation for anything but the 3 day rollback. In the old source, we had to crank up the rates of the server for everyone all at the same time and we always faced the backlash of "it's not fair to do it at this time because X" This time, we got Kevin to code the coupons and the infrastructure (such as giving out cash items by an NPC) for the sole purpose of allowing the players to get compensation when they want it. Not only that, with this method, you can get 72 full hours of compensation, whereas in the past, you had to have been actually online playing for 72 hours straight to get the same amount as what is being offered here. tl;dr Don't look a gifted horse in the mouth.
I think the compensation is very good and I am very pleased with it. 18 coupons of 4 hours is quite a lot. However I don't understand why there needs to be a time limit of 10 days to use the coupons. What is the reason for the 10 days limit? I was free for 4 days so during the time the rollback happened I had trained a lot. Now I am busy again and I probably don't have much time the coming 10 days to make good use of those coupons. Personally I would rather have less coupons but more time to use it than a lot of coupons but only partially being able to use it. @Sila Maybe in your situation 72 hours in those 240 hours (actually a lot less cause I have to sleep too and got my obligations lol) is not that difficult. I don't know what your obligations are but it certainly doesn't work that way for me. So I am pleased with the compensation but I hope that the staff can reconsider the 10 days limit. This very good compensation in theory can then be a very good compensation in practice too
