I apologize it came out that way but I am not playing games here. From my knowledge serpent was banned for insulting admins. Now when I say serpent, I am referring to the original Human that created the serpent account that evaded using conjuring and that you guys were busy with the banning of all his forum accounts today. Because of this limited knowledge of my situation, then asking of proof of age was out of no where I wasn't sure what was going on. Then I realized that when I registered, I made my birthday 2010/01/01, this is obviously fake so asking of proof of age made sense, because I had given false information. When Kat wrote the following: "Update: If you're under 13, you will need to get a COPPA form filled out - ie your parents giving you permission to play. (Apologies for the edits, I was unaware of some of this and Matt has corrected me!) " I further believed that your team recognized myself as not being serpent with help from a fellow player writing a ban appeal for me. So when Matt sent me a link to the government website with COPPA information, I went ahead at read the legal terms they had there. My eye caught that easy method of requesting information so I copy and pasted that part, bolded the parts I was going to follow and replied with as much detail as possible explaining who I am and proving that I am 18 by following the terms in the statement. I thought this would make it easier for you guys. I don't understand why you're asking for ID when on the government website, they say you can ask simple questions such as I showed you. Ask me a question such as one shown in there, if I answer accordingly your company cannot be fined if I lied when answering those questions. That is MY PROBLEM not yours. John, you wrote the following in your reply: "If you can prove to us you are above the age of 13, which is why the person you were impersonating was originally banned, then we will unban you." Great, now I completely understand why your team asked me for my age. Thanks for explaining it. Now let me explain to you that this "serpent" that you are referring to that was banned due to being under 13 is not the serpent I was impersonating! As explained earlier, the serpent I was impersonating is the same human who also played the mechanix, conjuring, atlantis, ETC accounts. This human as I explained in this thread when our guild was disbanded: http://royals.ms/forum/showthread.php?t=9392 Quit his account after sending that SMEGA about Matt. One of the other players even said that he saw the serpent selling all his items in fm for 1 mesos (further proof that this human quit the serpent account) After he quit, my friend from the guild Noobs told me that she has the serpent account's LOGIN INFO. She said she gave it to her other friend that wanted the account. Her friend was under the age of 13 and playing Maple Royals. At this point, the IP accessing the account has changed its region in the world. If your server saves the last unique IP logged into the account and the most recent one, perhaps you can still compare the two IPs location in the world given that the new account holder did not receive an IP change during the period of game play. After some time, my friend from the guild that originally had the info notified me that her friend was IP banned from the game for account sharing. I don't know how you found out that she was under 13 but perhaps it had something to do with her having an ex-gm on skype. Now that I've explained the situation and you have explained the situation, hopefully you won't re-lock this thread and give me clear instructions on what you're looking for an how this information will be used. I'm assuming Kat saying that Matt said that having a COPPA form signed by my parents would help was a mistake, or a trick to have solid proof that I'm the person you're assuming I am. Either or, doesn't matter. But honestly I don't even know if I want to play this game anymore. Seriously, the past few days have been absurd. I only feel very bad that my guild community was just abandoned and I wish that I was given a chance to login and fix things up there, perhaps also given a change to assign a new guild leader. Hope this clears many things up for your team, -Oldie
I know very little about your case, and it's not mine to judge over, but I just wanted to clarify; anyone who plays the account you refer to as "Serpent" IS for all intents and purposes, Serpent. If that account changed hands, it is now liable for a ban for account sharing, but more importantly, any and all actions taken by a character on that account is considered to be the responsibility of one entity, "Serpent". You introducing yourself as Serpent, then, is you telling the world that you are a person who owns a banned account (for whatever the reason may be) and that whatever account you are currently on is ban evading. Hope that cleared up many things for you, -Annie
After reading this, I am personally convinced that you aren't the original person who played serpent as you appear to be clutching at straws and unaware of that person's original ban. If you were in possession of the facts of the case, I can't see any reason why you would be telling us about the account's new owner, as impersonating someone who was account-sharing doesn't exactly help your case. Also, your level of literacy and articulacy suggest to me that you are highly unlikely to be below 13 years of age. We weren't up to anything remotely dodgy in trying to establish your age - it would simply have given us the proof we needed to clear you of the original ban reason. Having discussed this matter with other members of staff, I feel that the best thing to do in this situation is to lift your permanent ban. However, you will remain banned for 4 more days as this is the appropriate punishment for Impersonation:
I just want to add something here. Hypothetically speaking, if I were to confess to being serpent, and get let's say a COPPA form signed, from what you wrote here it seems you would be willing to unban both my account and the serpent account if I said it was mine. However, if I only showed proof of age, you would then accept it as impersonation and let me go but not serpent. That doesn't make sense because in scenario 1, I could still not be serpent but be friends with the human that used the account and use this opportunity to get both of us unbanned while the person playing on serpent still is in-fact a different human that does not fulfill the age requirements. BUT, if you used this method to prove I was the serpent I was impersonating, I would expect the perma-ban not to be lifted as I was in-fact ban evading. Now it seems that it doesn't matter if serpent was ban evading in this scenario and wouldn't be punished if the serpent provided proof of age. Just something to think about when dealing with impersonation bans. -Oldie
If we had discovered that you were serpent, we wouldn't be unbanning you even with a COPPA due to information that came to light after I initially asked you for proof of age. Serpent's behaviour as "Conjuring" had already earned a permaban for reasons other than being under 13 and ban evading.
