What is everyone's favorite memory from back in the day, for me it was when bigfoot was poisonable, remember spending hours hunting him for the big toe.
Scrolled this in like early 2008 or something. Never in my life had the same luck. Also featured: Jeb (lulz) Unless you're talking about mapleroyals back in the day.
I'm gonna take this way far to the GMS days. The trips to Orbis ... Being stuck together with a bunch of people on a boat, all a bunch of noobs, and every trip you'll hope there is a badass whos going to kill the balrogs. That is something I really miss.
Definitely not, I remember people complained ever since the inception of the first Maple Story server in Korea lmao "WAT DO U MEAN I HAVE TO ROLL THIS STUPID ASS DICE 600 TIMES TO GET MY 4/4 STATS??!?"
well damn I got a 5 in str and not int, guess I'm not making a mage now, hands down caused so much anger
I'm a weirdo. In GMS, I couldn't stand the coolie zombie grinding. I was so sick of it, 2nd job grinding took the best of me. Here on royals, I'm gladly grinding there even at 6x and early 7x while having a blast doing so despite the slow exp, and I usually don't grind at all. I don't even buy DM scrolls like most people do. I just walk all the way through, enjoying the BGM. Also, my 6 att 3 slots WG in 2006. No dark scrolls back then, no nothing. Pure luck with 10% gfa which were very expensive for the meso value back then. You pull this thing off back in the days, you jump straight to the 1%. Or at least very close to it.
Especially when people would scam you out of wins when doing trade wins and remember when people use to fight over the coin drops.
The Hennessy potion shop where lots of people would just sit around and sometimes there would be DG's on different channels. Carnival PQ/ Shiprides Something that isn't related to the game itself. When I played maplestory PRE-BB I was pretty young and I always remembered not understanding much of the game itself but I would always wake up super early to go to my cousins house on Saturday's and we would grind away. I don't know, maybe that's what the nostalgia was. The early car rides to my cousins, playing maplestory together, maybe it was just those days in general that are nostalgic rather than the game itself. I remember my oldest cousin had a ice/ lighting wizard named something like xfriedriceeex3 and my cousin had a theif, and I had a bowman but I was dumb and mixed up all my APS so instead of just putting it into dex and str I would add luk and int too haha. I think my in game name then was like pokemon182391(some random numbers). ALSO I remember early in the mornimg before I left to somewhere I went into the Henesys pot shop and I saw someone drop a green bamboo hat(I think) and a FROZEN TUNA. I think that was rare back then, anyways, I ended up carrying that thing around like it was the best thing in the world. Also I used to watch a lot of maple music videos and series ( melt the snow mmv, anyone watch Iwish? By ix3candi or something, or aznbubblegum?) haha good times. I still live near my cousins but we aren't as close as we use to be when we would all play maplestory together. I think that's what I really miss. I also remember this so fondly. My cousins and I (maybe around ages 8-13) went to the convenient store near their house and we bought an NX card and I was so excited! They ended up gifting me penguin slippers and I was so sad when they expired. Last thing, I miss was seeing how expensive things once were. Icies, tobies, snowballs were common theif stars because of how expensive illbis were, going into the fm and seeing how expensive things like rat mouths, capes, etc were and seeing people in the fm with zak helms thinking that you wouldn't ever be able to get one.. So much nostalgia
Me and some random level 52 i/l riding the boat to Orbis together. I asked her for some mesos and she gave me 50k, I screamed so loud (out of excitement) and woke my little sister up and my mom got mad at me. That was about 11 years ago.. Good times
I never got far in GMS (level 43 assassin with maybe 50k to my name) so my favourite memory is actually the circumstances in which I played the game. Back then I just had access to a family computer, which was this slow monstrosity bought from a sketchy neighbourhood shop and ran on a pirated version of Windows XP. The game would take forever to start and close. I also happened to have have helicopter parents who were religiously anti-gaming so I could only play when my parents were out. I remember just beaming with delight at the sound of my parents going to the supermarket, turning on the living room computer, launching MS from an inconspicuous subfolder labelled "files", and being perched on a high stool hacking away at the game (not literally). But as soon as I heard the faintest sound of a car or garage door, I would scramble furiously to close the game and erase all traces of wrongdoing and pretend I was submerged in math homework. Each episode wasn't always pretty (one time I fell off the chair; another time I had to exit the game after finally getting into LPQ being in a party with autoclicker—that hurt). Oh and I also got caught once near the end of my GMS career and endured quite a tirade, but man those were the days.
