First of all i'd like to say that i do appreciate the fact that @Kai tries to host a event for all of us! Okay, so i joined the event and there were like 1k+ people spamming, so that made it laggy af and also when the event started i was still stunned while other people were already at the next map, so i just left like many others, because as if we still had a shot when other people are already in the next map. I'd like to suggest to only host these kind of events when ALL of your GM commands work, commands like MUTE and SEAL. (i know seal worked, but apparently releasing the seal didn't work for everyone.) Also try to host these events in more than just one channel and only let 300-500 people join per channel, so the lag isn't that bad as it was now. If anyone wants to leave more suggestions, feel free to post!
I'd also like to suggest that you get warped out of these map as you're ccing, so people don't take advantage of these minor details. Saw some people do it in the first stage on other channels.
Wish they could disable pets/summons. They got really annoying at times. Once you got past the first map it was all good since there weren't many people though.
Similar to the last event I had, there will bound to be things that goes wrong. We're making do with what we got, since the community has been actively asking me for an event. Apologies again that it didn't turn out well, but at least this round we managed to have in place the seduce command, and people don't start jumping unless told to. With these 2 events held, it is certain to me now that there shall not be anymore events until all event commands are implemented.
To be honest i'd like to see more events as it was in old source, but i just think that you need more GM's to do it, so you can do it in 2-3channels, so its not that laggy as it was now. There were simply just to many people in 1 room.
We're working on reimplementing those, but with what's on the priority list, Kevin can't afford to be distracted. And yeah, I agree that an event should be held in multiple channels (limiting how many per channel) to reduce the lag. Personally I disconnected twice just now.
The problem at the moment isn't that there isn't enough gms to do events. I think you might have missed the point. Currently with the new source being implemented, all the custom commands that we're on old source ( stun, seduce, mutemap, and so on) have not been added in. Having hosted both gm events and events as a regular player I can tell you it is 100x harder to keep everyone under control without the commands. People get too excited and want to move around and it just gets frustrating as an event host. I think it's best to wait for the commands to be implemented before hosting gm events. Which by the looks of it, that is what's going to happen.
When i said that you needed more GM's to do it, i didn't mean that they had to add more GM's to the server, i meant use more GM's to host the event in different channels. I saw Yanir and Matty around there too, so it would've been nice if they both hosted the same event, but in a different channel. I'd like to see that in the upcoming events (if you guys still want to host events before all commands are fixed).
There won't be anymore events until all commands are fixed, and events are working proper (i.e. "Event" button will work, or the event NPC will work). Basically, no more events until the event system is back to how it was in old source where we have everything under control. I tried my luck with today's event given that we have the seduce/stun command implemented, but of course it wasn't in my favor.
