I noticed recently there have been a LOT more people worrying about tax now than a year ago, in my personal experience. Then this just happened to me:

This is obviously a scam, right? ...right? I can't be going crazy here. This is the second time that this "buy arrows first then I'll give you Chaos after to avoid tax" has happened to me. As far as I'm concerned, there is absolutely no difference as opposed to simply putting the CS in the shop itself? This is a genuine question. This is the first time I've ever seen these, so refrain from calling me an idiot if this is the norm now.

People have been doing this since forever, look at the bottom it shows exactly how much gets taxed. It might not seem like much for a single trade but every trade adds up. If you're worried about getting scammed then try asking to pay after or look for someone else.

Ah I see. Thank you for clarifying. This is the second time that I've seen this type of trade only in this last week. I feel bad because I called her a scammer, I can see now that I was in the wrong.

Not really, it quite an amount different
Before Tax: 500,000,000 (What the buyer send)
After Tax: 485,000,000 (What the seller receive)

This 15,000,000 (or 15mil) is a form of Mesos sink, what this seller wants is the full 500mil-5000(from the missing 1 mesos * 5k arrows)
In short, this seller is stingy because he/she wants to avoid Tax but still a legit way since Mesos selling started over Official Server. But do it at your own risk.

people have been using arrows to skip taxes in higher meso transactions since back in gms. This method should be avoided if possible since it puts you at a great risk of getting scammed. Use precaution, don't do these trades with unknown players, get a middle man that can be trusted, get the item before you pay, pay a bit more for the item just to cover the tax or pay half then get the item and pay the rest after.

The game is made so that the person who is selling something for mesos has to pay tax I don't understand why people are going through all this bs in order to skip that or even make the buyer pay the tax. I avoid this type of deals to the extent that I can, however when dealing with friends and people that i know can be trusted, I don't mind.

Now you do you, of course, I won't tell you what to think... but I believe that it's kind of a good thing that people are vigilant enough to ask if this sort of thing is normal. The more thorough players are, the less likely people are to get scammed - not everyone is a good citizen like you or I! Also, there's definitely nothing wrong with being stingy. Like @Mouthbreather said, a lot of players do this, myself included, because the tax really does add up. And at any rate, you'll never be as stingy as @Celtea .

    Happy Mapling, y'all.
