GM event JQs atm are extremely unfair to the average player. With so many other players in each event, it is literally impossible to see where any of the platforms are.

I argue that this results in incumbency within GM events, where players that are experienced enough with the particular JQ in question will be at a significant advantage, simply because they know the approximate location of each platform.

Solution: Add a ~showplayers command. This command will ONLY be available during GM events. This command only disables the sprites for other characters (GMs optional!). Thus allowing players who wish to, approach GM events on their own terms, and improving the fairness of the events. After leaving events this command will automatically be toggled off and disabled.

On a personal note, seeing other players in the JQ is extremely anti-fun for me. Since there are only ever 3 winners, I really lose a lot of heart when I see so many other players so far ahead of me. Which is always, because I suck at JQs.

PS: I told you I would Kat ~f2

Edit: Some good arguments for and against :)

To some people, it is more fun to do it this way. Futility is the biggest killer of my gaming experience, when there are only 3 winners and there are 50+ people ahead of me.

Hopefully I am not alone :) That is why this suggestion is to TOGGLE view, so everyone can experience the JQ in a way that's best for them.

I'm complaining that when you have 150+ people in the same room attempting the same JQ, the barrier for those not familiar to the JQ is unreasonably high.

I am arguing that the point of a JQ is to be able to time your jumps correctly, hit platforms, watch for obstacles, etc - NOT to be a guessing game as to where, in this huge sea of players, is the next pedestal going to be.

May I suggest, then, that the toggle will allow you to only see the members in your party (if you are in one)? That way you can compete against your friends in the same GM event.

A better solution requiring no new lines of code would probably be significantly more minor rewards for places beyond the top three.

You know, so 80+% of participants don't justifiably ~leaveevent the moment they fall hopelessly behind the top 10 even. Not being able to see the 25 people ahead of you won't stop them from finishing sooner.

That is an exception, not a rule.

I don't know how easy this idea would be to implement, but I do think it's a great idea! =)

GM events are for the community. Not for a single person. I vote no.

The first event i ever joined was JQ and it will be the last JQ i event i ever join. Assholes kept putting chalkboards up so we couldent see, on top of the fact that there are so many players jumping at one, those more familiar with the JQ jumped through it with ease and won within the first minute or two. I think this is a great idea, the gms would just have to figure out how to do it lol.

Maybe there could be a minor prize for xx participants chosen at random.

I'm for this feature. I can't stand people who spam while there is a JQ or put up chalkboards everywhere or who just keep jumping in the same few places just to throw people off. It's absolutely annoying. Either make a !hideplayers command specifically meant for events or limit the amount of people allowed in an event to a lower amount.

I don't agree. I like the idea of all the people, it makes it much more exciting. If I was in Ghost Chimney doing it without seeing anyone, I would be calm and it would be an easy win (I can do this JQ in one minute no problem. Here I go boasting my high rate experiences xD). When I have to see everyone I get a rush and my heart starts beating and I have an "I have to win this mudda fawka" attitude. It makes me more nervous and such. Plus, I get to see all the people and laugh along with the random little giggle-inducing things they say.

As for small prizes given out randomly to a few people besides the top 3, I am against because if you are not the winner and you only put in maybe at tops 5 minutes of your time into this event where you make almost 0 progress you do not need a reward. Though I would not be upset if it was implemented, it wouldn't change the experience much. Just seems like a petty "you tried" type-thing.

So... You're complaining that people who have done the JQ more will be better at the JQ?

You can practice JQ to get better, no rule against that. Simple.

As a side note if u don't like the challenge of jumping against other people. Thus becoming Anti-fun, you should consider not joining JQ events at all? The competition is the whole point of a JQ

This is exactly why I don't bother with JQ's.

Wow. Must be fun to do an event, alone. Not knowing if you're ahead of anyone.

Just as some people are good at T/F, Q&A, and other events, some people are better at JQs.

Don't hate the player(s), hate the game.

I suggest only because the community keeps rapidly growing, making jq have a max of 5 winners in steadof 3. Its much more fair because of the fact that so many participate. Beyond that idea, instead of having GM events, just do a server event that anyone and their brother has a chance at, but its up to them yo do it. My idea would be making someone find a certian obsurd amount of hard to find items which if you really want the reward you gotta earn it. Thats my idea though.

Randomly is a bad idea, but top 20 isn't.

That just gives an unfair advantage to DPS or Mobbing classes depending on the item(s) in question, and while you could tweak that so you would require a combination of items that drop from bosses and items that drop from mobs, how do you suggest we prevent people from exploiting this and marketing said items?

Id say make it a once per account type of thing. If people have 2 accounts I honestly dont know what theyd do for that. It was just an idea though.

Let's stick to the original thread idea of making players toggle in JQs please.
