For those who have studied some sort of social science they may be familiar with the term of a 'slippery slope', its the theory that small changes eventually make way for further subsequent changes, each becoming more prominent in contrast to the last as the previous modifications broke down barriers that where once present. I understand that people want ToT, Crimson Keep etc. But this is advertised as a v62 server, and so i and others where and still are under the assumption that it would be hosting v62 content. Developers and owners, if you continue to make compromises for the community when they express interest and want they will continue to ask for more and you'l most likely find yourselves in an uncomfortable situation in which you discover your server has shifted away from its original mission statement and what initially made MapleRoyals so, unique.
There's a huge difference between providing new monsters and bosses to kill... and implementing the Demon Slayer class. Avoid the doomsaying.
I view ToT and Ulu City as content that it was good for Nexon to add, as it improved the game without ruining the feel of it. Stuff like the potential system and many of the other updates they made does not fall into this category. And thus should not be added. I think that this server should have a v.62 feel about it, but not necessary only contain v.62 content.
Nostalgia is what attracts people and brings people to the server but as you play for a couple months and hit high end content you realize v62 did not have that much end content. Bossing classes kill Zak, Bf, Anego, Headless Horseman, Pianus, Papulatus, and Crow. Grinding classes grind at skelegons. This is the repeat of everyday either you grind or kill these bosses. I personally love that they are implementing ToT and Ulu city, sure its not v62 content but nonetheless its memorable and nostalgic content. After playing for roughly 4-5 months now I'm not here for nostalgia anymore I'm here for the community and the game in general. So with this new content coming out I don't think the server is going to crash and burn because of it but instead increase in popularity.
Yes, v62 is nostalgic. No, that doesn't mean v62 is perfect, and it has actually quite a lacklustre endgame. As some have said, not all v62 content is nostalgic, neither is all v62+ content not nostalgic. The staff here aren't dumb, they wouldn't fall for the slippery slope as you have mentioned. Working on the flaws of a v62 is a step in the right direction, and does not compromise the nostalgia.
This server will be fantastic as long as it continues to expand on what adventurer classes can do.(please don't add kerning mall or mush kingdom) Personally, I cannot wait for monster book and I would be beyond excited about any kind of title system being implemented.
Kerning mall was fun, included a bunch of little area bosses for lower levels to have fun with- as well as good training maps.
I love v62. It is my favorite version. Jump down? Heck yeah! 5 main classes with no gimmicks? W00t! I think all that is really missing is Horntail. I forget who used to say this, but making updates to the server is a huge part of the nostalgia factor. The updates of GMS were what made them worth coming back to! Adding Temple of Time is not game breaking and will only add more places to train and give us another boss to tackle (if Pink Bean is added), which chances are we won't be able to kill without forming some super group of people to take it on. I'm in favor of ToT. #ToThype
Without variation it'd be boring. How do you think the same server has been number 1 for so long? Yeah; updates and content. Despite, this is just giving us more fun. Nothing overpowered.
