So I will begin by saying that I am someone who has been suffering from hands pains for now 6 years, it all started on a keyboard playing Maplestory. With that out of the way, on another server called Project Beta I was able to find a way to play using my GameCube Controller(MayFlash Adapter), removing hand pains completely. For that, I had to use Joy2Key, pretty common program to map keyboard inputs to a controller. For some unknown reason, servers later than v.62 (haven't tried any other earlier except Projectbeta) won't work with Joy2Key So I was wondering, is there a way to make such programs compatible with the server? Or is there aleredy a way to play using a 3rd party controller?
I have been using AntiMicro on another server and that worked very well for me. I suppose it should work with Royals as well. Other similar programs seemed to cause problems with the repeat rate of button inputs. Be sure to run the software as administrator as not doing so seems to cause weird issues with inputs not registering at all while you are in full screen. Good luck!
Hmm, I've been meaning to make a thread in regards to playing Royals with a controller, maybe this will be my motivation to finally make it :3 But to clarify, I use a program called xpadder (version 5.7), and an xbox 360 controller. Xpadder doesn't directly interact with any other program, all it does is run in the background when you open it and allows any compatible controller to map to keyboard inputs, so it should in theory be compatible with any program. I can also confirm that it works with the Mayflash adapter + gamecube controller, although I wouldn't really recommend using it with Maple because it has a fewer buttons to work with than a xbox, playstation, or even most 3rd party controllers out there nowadays. Plus, the mayflash adapter is rather fickle in my experience, and it's a lot easier to just plug in a USB controller than trying to get that thing to work. So yeah, pm me on forums if you have any other questions or need any help setting it up
I use a controller to play royals. I need to run joy2key as an administrator though. But it does work.
Back in '06 I had a friend who used to play with ps2 joystick. He managed some configs in the windows itself, without the use of second programms. I can't tell you how it works, but you could find out knowing that it exists somehow.
