So I haven't been active for the past month or so because I've been prepping for a huge hike! In like 8 hours or so I'll be starting my ascent of Mt. Katahdin in Maine, the peak of which is the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail. I'm going to attempt to hike all 2,180 or so miles of it in the coming months. I set up my website to track my photos and selfies/facial hair progression (trail beard is tradition) along the way. If anyone's interested: http://at.ianebstein.com It'll be at its best in a week or so once I've completed the 100 Mile Wilderness and uploaded a few pictures. Special shout out to Magic Hat Brewery for this little wonder that I've been holding onto for months in anticipation. Such wisdom is a rare thing. I'll see you on the other side. Wish me luck!
I think it's super cool that you choose to share this with us! I wish you the best of luck and I will definitely follow you on your website!
UPDATE! I'm still alive, I've made it about 500 miles, and am taking a day off to recover from a stomach bug. I've been met with such kindness and generosity from so many people around the trail. This has been the most humbling experience of my life already, and I'm only a month in. Everyone should do this. In other news, my facial hair has never been this long (the longest I've ever grown it out was for no shave November), and I'm going to look homeless when I'm done, which I can't wait for. Also, the image gallery I was using was HUGE and was crashing people's browsers, so I'll work on embedding a facebook gallery. It's weird trying to do web design stuff from my phone.
I FINISHED! Hot damn that was a proper adventure. Full selfies gallery is up (minus 1), and I'll add that facebook gallery as soon as I'm home. I just want to throw it out there that ANYONE can do this, and if you're interested, I'm more than happy to share tips, stories, gear recommendations, etc!
I checked in on your website every now and then, as I said before you left. It looks like you sure had the adventure of a lifetime, that's for sure. I don't think I would ever do that, but I can't say I'm not intrigued by the idea. Congrats, man!
