Things you did when you first started maplestory

Hey everyone. I'd like to start a light-hearted discussion about things that we did when we had no idea what we were doing. It could be just silly mistakes or things you thought were right back then, whatever you feel like sharing.

For me, it was way back pre-BB in gms. It was the first time I was heading to windraiders when I came across the totem poles. For the life of me, I could not figure out how to do that damn thing. At the very last run, I was sitting on my pig mount when the pole came towards me. I figured my platform was safe, but the pole collided with the tiniest microscopic piece of flesh on my pig's nose...boop, dead again. I was so angry that i uninstalled maple immediately out of rage and then was sitting there waiting for it to reinstall while my buddy next to me was still trying...good times.

 

Ran to 7-11 to buy 10K NX Cash.

 

I remember doing that to buy 10 att work gloves from the maple trade shop and selling them for mesos. Best money making strategy lol

 

being from europe i couldnt get nx card irl, and didnt have a credit card cus i was 10 or something lol, i used to merch my ass off and buy glowing whips in fm, then sell for nx on trade system.

i fucked up my assassin and spent nx on an ap reset, learned the hard way that it doesnt reset all your ap xD

i also used to hang around mayas house like the hene hoe i was, made a mage just so i could teleport all the way left, before jump down function was implemented.

i also bought a smega and a love ring when i was like 11, saying LF> GF and i got a whisper by someone named FirePuzzy, then i gave the love ring away and was so happy. After that he told me he was a guy, feelsbadman

good times tho!

Using a chair to heal HP instead of potions, in order to save them mesos because I was young and cheap!

 

Left maple island. Took the VIP cab into ant tunnel. Got killed by evil eyes. Respawned in sleepywood. Couldn't get out of sleepywood. Created a new character.

 

Pre bb i wanted my warrior to be intelligent as well as strong so it had like 45 int before realizing warriors only needed str -.-

 

My IGN was pokemon123456. So was my login ID (don't bother hacking it, if anyone even bothers to, it was in 2007, the ID probably got deleted already).

Fact: I don't play pokemon.

 

I didn't know what was the game about and since this was my first ever online game, I didn't even understand the purpose. So I was at maple island until level 12 or so then went to the Victoria Island to become a warrior. After it all hit me, made a sin and started traveling around and constantly dying...........

I remember seeing FM for the first time with having like 700k mesos I felt rich up until visiting an fm store .....

 

I thought pressing F5 for the would make me hit higher

 

Being super excited to make the boattrip from Ellinia to Orbis because I'd heard so much about it!
Then halfway through I found out Dark Sight didn't work against Balrog

 

I always opened a new char,used vip cab, died at sleepywood, couldnt escape it to Henesys, then opened again a new char since I was very angry..

 

Can remember entering that hidden street map right of henesys and instantly getting 1hit killed by a golem.
Pan lids being expensive or something?

 

In GMS beta. Hunting green mushroom for 3 days for an end game mage shield at the time...A pen lid.

Few months later, my I/l were strong enough to hunt red Drake. Killing red Drake for a week for two sets of steelies. Made a sin after that and show off at hhg1.

 

Made an I/L mage and distributed ap into each stat evenly. Had to remake and chose to be an archer instead.

 

Back in gms I heard about a rumor that LUK increased droprate of rare items...so I had a very lucky page.

 

Created a mage. Added STR and DEX with very little INT pumped. Attack became quite strong, but classmate told me I fucked up. Decided to create another character, but gonna transfer items and money to my friend so that I could transfer to my new character. Didn't know how to trade between players, so decided to drop on ground. Bloody friend was typing something, passer by passed by, looted my hard earned 10k mesos and mage equips.

I raged so hard and quit for few days, then went back and created my new mage. Got pretty good, following guide and stuff. Almost a month in, got rekt by admins because I was apparently using false ID to register my account. Account got banned. RIP.

 

I remember the first day I played maple, i was doing the quest where you need to hunt a few orange mushrooms and loot their caps. Well I had no idea that potions were a thing so I spent a good 15 minutes jumping over it and attacking, only to get hit and need to sit on my relaxer to gain some health back.. I felt so good when I finally killed the thing, then immediately depressed when it didn't drop the cap...

 

lol.

Made a str mage.

Also had a dexless-2h-fighter on scania that I ditched when Broa came out because I fucked it up so bad and couldn't hit anything. New world, new start. He was dead to me. His IGN was FunnyLlama.
