Title more or less says it all. For those that forgot/don't know what stage 5 LPQ is, it's the one stage in ludi PQ with the king block golems below the platform that can instakill you just by bumping into you. Thief class is mostly responsible for the bottom portal as dark sight is required to safely clear the boxes. While you can just remind the party to not jump down below the platform with NPCs on them or just reply to this thread with "gitgud", I find that disabling the platform jump down for this one particular stage more good than it is bad. For one, it's retard insurance and doesn't impede the progress of the entire party. You can jump down from the NPC platform/spawn point, so even an accidental jump+down key could be fatal to the party's progress. It also prevents anyone doing the upper portals from jumping down too far down. Secondly, if anyone decides to troll, you can basically get a free screenshot to report the player for Objectionable Behavior. The only bad thing that comes out of it is the thief job party member having to walk a bit and dark sight to bypass the golem platform and the others having to take the stairs down. Now, I think everyone here that did LPQ at least once understands the ludiPQ experience™. Whether it's trying to navigate the PQ's map when an assassin buffs the party with maxed haste, trying to explain to your party to not go into stage 2 before defusing the second box (only to have half or all of them go in), getting first place at stage 6 because you pressed the combination correctly, swinging your weapon to instruct your party members to go on which block (or get pissed at the afk on 1/2) at stage 8, or that one guy who packed an item pouch on his pet and looted your cape/earring at the bonus stage, nothing really ticks off the entire party more than that one guy holding onto some passes that died because he did a suicide jump down onto the king block golem platform. All that BS just for a pair of broken glasses (before you get locked out for being over level 50 in the official MS). Might as well just get one of those issues out of the way at least.
I'm not sure if "r-tard insurance" is the best argument there is for removing the jump down mechanic from LPQ. That being said, in terms of the "nostalgia factor," all the old-school party quests (KPQ --> PPQ) did originally function during a time the jump down mechanic did not yet exist (correct me if I'm wrong). So I do think it does make sense to remove that mechanic in all party quests, not that it honestly matters that much.
like if you can't figure out not to drop to your death via golem destruction, then you should just give your head a shake
I did this the other day. It sucked, despite being hilarious. This doesn't mean the game needs to be changed; it means I need to be more careful when jumping down in stage 5 LPQ.
