Zakum Only(?) Scissor of Karma

The biggest issue us Mac players have is the inability to fight Zakum.

There are a few skill books as well as Z-Helms that drop from the boss, which really benefit players (especially at later levels when, for example, TT10 or ACA10 greatly improves damage output).

I feel that adding a Zakum drop only scissor (books+helm) that allows the one time trade of these items would really benefit us Mac players who may not be able to run the game on a PC or windows partition/simulator.

I am against this idea.

First and foremost, Maplestory is designed to be run on a PC, not a Mac. You will always be at a disadvantage on a mac, sometimes the disadvantage will be game-breaking. If you don't like that, get a PC instead. Trust me, more bugs will be uncovered as the server expands, as new content is released, etc. There is no real way to even the ground, and I honestly think it's a waste of resources. More time debugging the mac version = less new content released, less time working on more important issues that plague the majority (PC users) of the royals population.

In addition, granting PSOKs just to make up the Mac disadvantage is unfair for all the past PC users who have had to run zakum to get the helm. Many players have had to spend hours in multiple runs, where they died/lagged out/not enough zhelms dropped. All because historically, PSOKs have never been available for players to use.

Also, before anyone suggests that it should be a donator option, it should not and probably will never be. From what I have seen, the staff is very adamant to prevent donations from giving anyone a gameplay advantage, something which I rather respect.

 

While I don't necessarily agree with giving an SoK option to fix the issues with Mac players, I will state that I think you're wrong - PC players in this server are NOT clearly the majority, and if they are the majority it's slight. In my experience, it's more like half and half (though a good number of the mac players use parallells or bootcamp because they have to.) A large number of players (myself included) only ever found royals because we wanted to run maple on our macs. Still, the idea that you should neglect half your playerbase is ridiculous, and the idea that it will help speed up "new content" (wtf is that in a server like this? #ToTHype?) is too.

That's a terrible argument too. "Just because we haven't had something before, we shouldn't have it now." If countries followed this rule, we would still have slavery.

That said, I still don't think we should have the SoK, but not to "be fair to previous players" but rather because that's a "fun" (or at least important) coming-of-age part of the game, especially for first or second characters and I would hate to see the helm buying experience go away. I think it's a much more worthwhile use of time to attempt to fix the issues with macs than it is to attempt to band-aid it by setting up an item like this.

Yeah, I don't think there's much chance of it becoming a donator option and I don't like the idea of it anyway.

 

This is a lot of work btw, even if it were to be added, it would be a while before they would actually work.

 

I like the idea if it's intended use is to help out mac users. I don't see the harm in adding it being that karmas only make an item tradeable.

In terms of current prices, I wouldn't see how that's detrimental to the economy/game in general other than being able to sell helmets outside of Zakum. Mind you, a person can hold up to one helmet(and I think this includes skill books dropped by specifically zakum) at a time. Anyone's welcome to disagree with me.

I'd much rather the staff focus on other things right now though. For instance: the balanced furies we NLs were promised months ago.

I don't know if you've realized but this server has other version content: soon-to-be-added ToT&Ulu. EDIT: So suggesting something like scissors of karma isn't that far off.
