?

Which one has an easier time in life as a more solo oriented character?

  1. Buccaneer

    44.7%
  2. Shadower

    55.3%

    Hey all,

I've been pretty indecisive since starting in Royals. I took up Maple mostly post BB so I'm not too familiar with the older versions of classes' skills, delays, and abilities, so coming to Royals and back to an older version of Maple is a little daunting for me.

I'm pretty set on either Bucc or Shad and am interested in the ability of either character to self fund and solo most of the game (almost Ironman challenge) but with the ability to partner up with others occasionally. I understand that both have some value when it comes to bossing; Shads have ME and Buccs have SI. Either can contribute well to parties when it comes to increasing overall party DPS but there are other things I wanted to take into consideration, too. Ultimately it seems that whichever I pick, as long as I can find a party that's friendly and I can get along with, then it's really a coin toss between either. Would this necessarily be the case?

More importantly given that I want to be able to solo (and I'm too lazy to make a Bish on a separate account to leech with, or spending time on a mage for its AoE and farming capabilities) I'll probably end up farming for scrolls and equips so the ability to take down loads of monsters efficiently is going to be a pretty large factor in which one I choose to play.

As far as I understand it, for Buccaneers the mobbing capabilities post 4th job seems like it's mostly going to be BSB/CSB + DS. It seems pretty straightforward but I kind of resent having to use 2nd job/3rd job skills for the rest of my class days tbh.

For Shadowers I'm not sure exactly how their mobbing capabilities end up being. Is it just BStep with Assaulter/SB? Does Meso Explosion play any role when it comes to mobbing at a larger scale? If so, is Pickpocket/Meso Explosion a viable method for taking down mobs quickly? Would BoT be a skill to use at all post 3rd job?

I feel I might enjoy both because of how the classes are played but after that I'm stuck with these questions. Any in-depth feedback with a more player-experience oriented suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I grinded bucc in old school BBB GMS from 1 to 167 when pirate first came out. It's one of the most interesting grinding class IMO. At 4th job, I still use every single skill aside from the summit kick and flash fist. It's really fun to grind.

Ah, I guess I was a little spoiled. I'd only gotten to lv 120 long after multiple changes were made. I still love Dragon Strike for its animation but I think I played at a time when the delays were changed drastically so it was possible to almost spam DS endlessly for charging up a character. I'm a little concerned about the time it'll take in the interim of ST cooldowns to DS + Barrage a boss down... seems a little too underwhelming for me.

On another note I did remember it being quite fun, but it did take a looooong time to go from 3rd -> 4th job.
