I've started my quest to rid MapleRoyals of the disease that is leeching. Leeching is quite simply laziness, and is only for lames and the rich. What kind of accomplishment is every level when you have someone else doing the work for you. My quest is simple, find the people buying leech and convince them it is a disease, open their eyes to see that the life outside of leeching is one of respect, courage, and dedication to the way of life in the Maplestory world. Think of me as the Jigsaw killer for leechers. I will message the people buying leech telling them that it is for lames every chance I get. If you believe in my cause, then join with me and fight back against the parasite that is the leech and leave screenshots of some of your more memorable encounters, if you are against it, however, prepare to meet the downfall of the market that is leeching.

I think of it as an investment. Time is money.
Plus the quicker you get to 4th job, the quicker you start to realise your meso making potential.
Most people who hate leeching are either unable to afford it or jealous of AMs/bishops.

I think that sorely depends on individual's standard. Similarly, we can say online gaming is a disease in modern human life because it's eating away our precious time we could have spent otherwise for productive real life work. People play games for fun and some say for the purpose of releasing real life stress. We could have chosen other "fun" things to kill our time but we chose gaming since we find it "fun". If someone comes up to you and whisper you to stop gaming becoz they don't find it constructive, how would you react? You will probably tell them "I find it fun regardless of your opinion".

Majority of people don't mind achieving levels with someone else's effort (and it's not free either, gotta pay mesos that were earned using their own time) because watching themselves lvl up gives them joy and hope as they anticipate what they can/will do after they achieve a certain lvl. Leeching is popular because both parties, seller and buyer, are satisfied with the benefits. I doubt those who you message will appreciate your advice as your view is against the majority of thoughts.

Don’t have 300 base int if you’re not a mage. Enjoy the early game, it’s just as fun as the end game and you don’t need HP washing to do that

I appreciate the reply, but I believe in the way of the grind. I believe it’s what attracted the millions of players to maple story back in the day to begin with. The hours you spent with a party killing the same mobs for one level. The weeks it took to get your new gear. The long enduring months it took to finally reach 200 and after everything it was not just an accomplishment and a display of your wealth or high attack. It was a part of you. I remember every moment I had, I was grinding it out on maple. It was my escape, the clicks of the keyboard. The sounds of the skills. It became embedded into my DNA with every level I earned. I believe it is a culture that has fled the hearts of maplers worldwide. I know that I myself may not be able to change the way people think, and yes, my whispers may be nothing more than a good laugh for whoever is on the other end, but if I can instill that same love for the grind that was once so prevelant in just a few. Then I consider that a success. People will go the paths they choose, but when I reach level 200 I will have killed every single teddy, every single wind raider, every single skele, every single boss with my own hands and a select few who joined me on my quest to 200. That’s a feeling I wish to bestow upon every person, but I would be foolish to think that I will change more than only a handful.

It’s not that I’m jealous or can’t afford, it’s that I value more in maple story than just the amount of mesos in my storage. There’s an art to maple story that doesn’t care for how much damage you do or how fancy your equips are, it’s about the hard and true grind to 200 and hatefully enjoying every moment and every job along the way.

I get where you are coming from, but another consideration is that most "OG" players now would be in their 20s and are time-deficient. Even if one wants to play maplestory the "hardcore" way, there simply isn't enough time compared to the good ol' days when we led carefree lives :x

I played back in 07 and am now 19, crazy how long it’s been and I’m still playing and that’s for one reason. The time dedication and the grind. I have a lot of free time for the next month until I leave for the military, but before that I played two sports and worked full time and went to school and I still managed to squeeze in 2-3 hours of grinding a day. People may complain it takes too long and they don’t have enough time, but that’s exactly the challenge with this game, but also what has drawn me back to it time and time again. It doesn’t matter if you are level 35 or 160 the grind is still the same and the core of what makes this game great is still there.

I can't understand how you can come with such a claim? Should I understand it like as if you have met most of the leech-haters and noted their reasons?

If this is what you find of maple than i suggest that you pack your shit and find a 1x server were you play as you do on maplestory (the early days)

Quit messing with pple trying to convince em to do something you want.
If you ever message me about it i will report you for harrasment.

And what other reason can you think of? Besides the one OP has.

Well, first I have my own personal opinion. Dragon Knights have a quite decent DPS and in my 3rd job I have not really felt the need for leech. I enjoy partying with one or two people and I can have some small talk as I grind.
Then there are those who enjoy training in places they trained back in the day. Reaching a certain level isn't so much a goal, as having the experience of nostalgia that the grinding gives is more interesting.
People can find joy in "walking the road" so to speak. Going from one spot to another, as they grow stronger.
People might have the money and even abundance of it, but would rather spend it on slowly creating end-game gear while leveling, as opposed to spending it on leeching (I'm aware that a lot of people prepare the good gear, and then leech up a character to be able to use it)

I can say that I share parts of the motives. Let's see if others have other reasons why they prefer grinding over leech.

Oh and I should make clear, that I don't identify myself as a "leech hater" (if there even is a such camp). Maybe it seemed so from my reply, but what I wanted to to was to simply point out a statement which (according to me) makes no sense.
In fact, I think I understand many of the reasons why people choose leech. And as someone also said earlier, if you wan't to have high base INT to gain HP as a low-HP class, you simply HAVE too leech (I have a buddy who is currently doing this in a soon-to-be-Bowmaster)

What's your opinion on self leeching? I personally never paid another person for leech. I'm too cheap for that. I made 6 mages (1 lv 200 fire poison, 1 lv 186 ice lighting, and 4 lv 8x HS/door mules for petri, skele, oblivion, and bossing) for the purpose of self leeching. Am I in the lazy and lame category? Btw FYI, I grinded all the hs Mules to 8x not leeched. Mage are too easy to lvl and faster than leech at low level.

I do both! I have a 400 int base NL, and now I'm grinding a Bowman to 134 for fun, enjoy the grind, and it will be my future se mule. I could have just leech it like I did to some of my attacker characters.

Simply put, the definition of laziness varies from person to person.
