Would it be possible to remove the mesos limitation in inventory / storage? It's kinda annoying having to make new characters so that you can store all your mesos.
it is basically not possible, it has been mentioned multiple times before. (rather it is possible but unlikely to happen anytime soon atleast)
Mesos cap cannot be increased due to how the source and client handles the amount of up to 2^31-1. Even if you look at official MS, it's quite far into the versions before they eventually revamped the mesos cap entirely. And this isn't as simple as just modifying the client to allow it. Then again, don't treat my post as an official staff respond. It's just from my knowledge.
maybe he wanted a tradeable/exchange item worth 1b + taxes when buying from NPC and when being transformed in mesos it'd be only 1Bil
All right, yea if it'd be possible to add items for sale in a NPC that would make the value of mesos and you could NPC any time for the mesos in return. Example: Gold Bar: 1,000,000,000 Mesos Silver Bar: 500,000,000 Mesos Bronze Bar: 250,000,000 Mesos You could buy those from a NPC and they would be in your USE/Cash Inventory and you could re-sell them in any NPC whenever you wanted, for the mesos they are worth. You could also trade them with other players. This way we can purchase items from other players that cost the X amount. For instance, you can sell a 15 ATT SCG now in exchange for 4 chaos scrolls, but if you take a break and return later to the game, the value of the chaos scrolls can have decreased and they no longer are worth the amount they used to be that lead you to do that exchange.
This has been brought up a lot. It just comes down to the risk of duping exploits, server cant handle it and Matt wanting the server to be as gms like as possible. I understand that the market is fragile and holding onto ws or cs instead of mesos is just like stocks and you could lose as fast as you gain. But in the end nothing is going to happen for this, as nice as that would be.
Been discussed before, there's just a lot of issues with taxes/duping/etc. You could implement a buy for 100%/sells for 95% to remove mesos from the server that way, but that only works if people sell it back. You could make them tradable once, but then causes trouble with transferring between alts. They could pull a WoW-squish, and cut mesos gains from all sources by 90% (well, take whatever drops the least amount of mesos and make them drop 1), but it's not as easy as just editing stuff, not to mention you'd have to remove 90% of all money from characters/storage. People would have to adapt. Complicated to say the least
Personally, I don't like this. I have played servers that trade 2B for a GML or something. It's just ridiculous knowing how one character can hold up to like... 200 GML per slot x 96 worth of mesos in their ETC. It's just plain ridiculous.
One (GML) is introduced specifically to be currency, and has a stable price. NPC's will sell and buy whenever people want. That's effectively equivalent to mesos and is currency. The other (WS) is not currency, as you cannot buy or sell it from NPC's and it has a use outside of people hoarding them to sell later. Their price could change with the market. They're just two completely different things. If you don't understand this, then learn about the absolute basics of economics.
bruh why u gotta bring economics in this its maple royals yo and white scrolls plus chaos scrolls are a form of of stackable currency here that people use in big trades and stock them up for those uses
I think that ws/cs can and is used as a currency, it also has other uses. I don't understand how an npc selling the scrolls will make it valid as a currency? Also its pretty rude to say "you don't know economics thats why im right and you are wrong". At least explain your knowledge of what a currency is and point out why its different.
WS/CS is totally different from GML (whatever that thingy is), because WS/CS is consumable, and thus they can turn from 400m (just giving it a price tag) into nothing. GML, on the other hand, will always yield a certain amount of meso on it. NPC it, give it to another player in a trade, and its price, assuming it is 400m as well, will always remain at 400m. Unless, of course, you destroy the item by letting it fade into nothingness on the ground, which i highly doubt will happen in most cases. Long story short, WS/CS=total net mesos in server might decrease. GML=total net meso in server is the same.
WS VS GML is like a floating VS fixed exchange rates. WS would be a floating exchange rate, meaning the value of the "currency" is entirely dependant on the market. And it has a market because it has utility ourside of being use as currency. If the WS market is up than the "currency" is worth more and vice-versa. But for something like GML it would be a fixed exchange rate, meaning the currency has a fixed value due to its exchange with the NPC. It will never change value unless the staff change the exchange rate of the GML. The only use of these will be as a currency as well. If everyone started buying and hoarding WS the market would skyrocket. There would be few sellers and demand would be extremely high, so people trying to buy them to use would have to pay more and more for them. For GML you would never have this situation because their only purpose is as a currency and the only means of getting them would be paying for them from an NPC for a fixed rate. Not essentially getting them for free. Economics is always at play in MR and understanding how economics works is a great way to understand the economy of MR and how different things would affect the economy.
Reduce the Meso rate to 1x (Not even sure why it's 4x to begin with), and have all items sell for half the price to compensate for our 2x Drop! I'm pretty sure this was suggested before, but I am suggesting it again because I have yet to be explained the problem with it.
As some people have already mentioned, it is impossible to change the maximum value of Mesos that characters can have in their inventory. However we are aware that there is definitely an issue regarding high value trades, in particular the fact that WS/CS are being hoarded and used for doing these sorts of trades, which must not be healthy for the distribution and economy of WS/CS. We are currently discussing possible solutions within staff.
hopefully a solution comes up soon™, i'm sure many people, including me, are ready to rake in the big bucks end of the year after exam season, and 2.1b just ain't enough
swiggity swag swoog swog nice Also for the sake of the argument I do want to mention that there is a difference between hoarding WS/CS and hoarding GML. WS/CS have functions beyond their monetary value—they are usable items with a specific purpose (which is to improve the quality of equipment items). GML is literally just mesos, simply in another form. Let's say you have too many dolla dolla bills to fit in your wallet. Hoarding WS/CS would be like investing your extra money into luxury watches. These are specific items with specific functions, and have monetary values that are volatile and subject to various factors. Hoarding GML is like placing your extra money onto a debit card. It's still the same exact money, but stored in a different (and more convenient) fashion. Honestly I didn't explain that all too well but I hope it made enough sense for everyone lol.
I understand the differences, however we currently don't have something like GML so there isn't really anywhere for players to store vast amounts of Meso on a single character apart from investing in items like WS/CS. Of course there are players that hoard them because they want to use them, some because they want to invest in them, but some also because it's what is used as currency in trades. There are currently no other options for making large and safe trades without using the WS/CS which have a volatile price, so it seems probable that if there was a non-volatile item that could be used instead (acting as Mesos, and being able to be exchanged for pure Mesos at any time), that it could help bring back some of those WS/CS back to the market.
