Any account or character that has been inactive for over 3 months should have their IGN's up for grabs to the whole community who donate to the server. Please take this into consideration. Thank you
An overwhelming majority voted "No" last time this was suggested. The playerbase is just too small & server too young for inactive/banned IGNs to be up for grabs. It would just cause a whole lot of confusion, i.e. ban evading reports for seeing 'banned' people online again or players returning from lengthy hiatuses (like @danman) raging after seeing their old IGNs stripped from their possession.
I vote no. Not only would this piss off inactive players, it will wreck havoc in the staff team because we will need to update all the banned igns to the ones we replaced them with.
Yeah, no. People play for a while, leave for a while, and then come back for a while more. It would make no sense to interfere with natural patterns of MMORPG play over something as minor as IGNs. If you're having that much trouble thinking up an original IGN, expand your horizons rather than asking an entire server to pander to your lack of creativity.
3 Months? heck, make it 3 days why don't you. jesus christ. never im against ever releasing old names, but allowing players to delete their characters so they can sell names.
I would support this only if there were a way the original owner of the name could approve of it. But that would make a lot of work for the staff. What about a staff member reaching out via registered email to the IGN owner asking if they can change it so someone else can use it? Then the player wanting the name spends say 15 EXTRA RP for that. Just a thought.
I'd say no, too. There was a case somewhat recently where an IGN I recognized as being a permabanned IGN from a situation ~2 years ago was recently smegaing harmless stuff. I banned them because I thought they were ban evading and somehow had gotten unbanned. Turns out that the banned person had deleted their accounts and the IGN was up for grabs, and the person who was now using it was an innocent unrelated person. Cue confusion. Now imagine that on a higher scale?
I think this is a very bad idea. While I wish I could have Rennac in game here, I also see it from the other side... I would hate to lose Rennac on any number of other games, some of which I've been playing for 12+ years. It's been said, but it would also be bad for people who take leaves of absences from the game, only to come back with generic [#2948573] names on all of their characters.
